Re: Cumulative time format
Thanks FS, you can relate to the rock and hard place! :wall: I question the motivation of this packs leadership. Why bother with all the bells and whistles, stage the event and have it over in an hour with limited excitement and racing? They certainly have all the requisites for a more enjoyable eve...

Re: Cumulative time format
Yes Randy it is sad. They have all the bells and whistles required for a great event. Choice of venues, Four lane Best track with remote start and laser gate, Fast track timer, GPRM projected on a 12' X15' screen and very deep pockets. I tried twisting my buddies arm a bit to get invloved with leade...

Re: Cumulative time format
Follow up to preceding. I took it upon myself to write cub master and offer my perspective as an observer. I explained I had no vested interest in race, I was an invited guest and general spectator with several years experience as a derby chair. (I did mention I had a rooting interest in my buddies ...

Re: Our track, districts and our boys using it
The host pack will always enjoy an advantage (I trust Stan's assessment that it is considrable at highest levels), how they chose to manage that advantage is an individual decision. (Unless district supplies track, rare in my experience.) Is the advantage justified compensation for hosting? Does it ...

Re: Our track, districts and our boys using it
IMO it boils down to competitive advantage. How much of an edge does having track offer and are you willing to share that advantage. Similar in sentiment to the thread which asked "how much info do you share with local comp?". Cars making it to districts are the fastest in their respective...

Re: Our track, districts and our boys using it
We have the same deal with our Pack's track,it is always used at District. But we always loan it out to any pack in our District that want to use it. Just curious, how many requests do you get prior to district event? Who is responsible for transport? How about insuring safety and preventing any dam...

Sorry, I didn't read this as an option. I read it as only whether he should allow HIS pack acess or not. Certainly if time, expense and logistics allow invite district entries to a test and tune.gpraceman wrote: You could open it up to any racer qualified for the district race.

Re: Our track, districts and our boys using it
Well part of me feels that is part of the advantage of being a host pack. One of perks for hosting and offering the use of equipment and personel. The other issue is fairness to others who may not have access to track or similar. Tough call. I know from past experience many host packs took full adva...

Re: Son won BIG St. Louis district race today
Gotta agree with HumV on this one. I find it considerably easier to camber a wheel via the pro body tool mehtod than turning a good balanced 1g wheel. However, as previously mentioned, not advisable to cant a 1g wheel do to weakness of tread and potential for deformation under stress. So my guess is...

You could turn them around hub side out and still get benefit.St_Louis_Racer wrote: IMO I don't believe canting 1 gram wheels is a good idea. Don't think it's a good idea to run on the weakest part of the flimsy 1 gram wheel.

Speed,
Thanks. I wonder about logistics of field that large. How did they handle it? Tracks, format, how long did it take, ect.?

Re: Son won BIG St. Louis district race today
Congrats to you as well! Major feat considering size of field! Our rules are so liberal to begin with there is almost no place for people to cheat. Which I think is great. Interesting! Anything goes? When you say three wheels, touching or attached to car? Lightened wheels allowed? Axle grooves? Liqu...

Re: Garrett's Big Dog Car--And Specs
Congrats on goin out on top! This, however, was by far the fastest car we ever built. Just when you are starting to get things right, it comes to an end.... I know that feeling all too well! You can satisfy the PWD crave by helping other build winners, not the same as being in the hunt, but it does ...

Congrats to team OTR!
Fine job making the best of "what is" and yielding to temptation! Well done.
edit: I would have added that .2 left a bunch of speed on table. I crossed over to obsession years ago!
