Re: New BSA Wheels - Inner Edge of Hub?
K, Outter hug prep. I started putting the wheel on a lathe, then i took q-tips, cut the ends. I glued small piecies of micro-mesh to the end of the q-tips. My mounting process in the lathe allows me to get at the hub. I then run at 900 rpm, or around that range. I then carefully get to the hub with...

Re: No workshops or test & tune!
As a new leader, the best thing you can do for this years event is do your best for the actual race... as the race progresses, make note of the cars that come in the top places. Should there be several that do really really well, you will want to consider approaching those dads and scouts for assis...

No workshops or test & tune!
This is my son's first year in Cub Scouts, and from what I've been reading here, I was sort of expecting a workshop and/or a test & tune event - but our pack has neither. I am in the process of completing the training and BSA application to at least help with his den (and probably more as he get...

Source for extra needle axles?
Forgive me if this is easy to resolve, but I've been reading so much DerbyTalk and some other PWD resources that things are starting to blend together. Can someone point out a source for extra needle axles? I have a set of RSNX wheels (and axles), and I'd like some more needle axles for backup and f...

Re: No access to pack track prior to PWD - advice?
Tim, FYI, this topic might also be of some interest if you have not seen it yet. Thank you, FatSebastian, for the link. My son and I have no prior access to the track that our Pack will be using for their PWD. They use a Best Track, although the length is unknown. We also have no test track at this...

Re: Rear axles: canted holes or Pro Rail Rider Tool bent ax
There are, of course, other ways to hold the wood to result in calibrated cambered holes. Thank you Stan, for the comments. Of course, there are certainly other method that result in cambered holes; I have read and re-read that page of yours (and other pages of yours), so that is the method to whic...

Rear axles: canted holes or Pro Rail Rider Tool bent axles?
For an unlimited class PWD car (3 wheel, rail rider), what is the general consensus on rear axles: carefully drill canted axle holes using Stan's table, or drill square, level holes, and then use axles bent with the Pro Rail Rider Tool?
Thanks!

No access to pack track prior to PWD - advice?
My son and I has no prior access to the track that our Pack will be using for their PWD. They use a Best Track, although the length is unknown. We also have no test track at this time. I'm looking for advice: Do I build a wooden test track (thinking that a wooden test track is better than no test tr...

do I have to order the Micro mesh from them directly... Davhamm, According to Micro Surface, Woodcraft carries some of the Micro Mesh products. There should be a Woodcraft store in Sterling Heights, MI. According to the Woodcraft site, they carry some Micro Mesh products, but I'd call them first at...

Re: Pro Body Tool question
Thank you, sporty and FatSebastian, for the fast replies. I didn't think to check the various vendors' sites for specs - I only looked directly on DerbyWorx.com. As FatSebastian has noted, it does appear that the Pro Body Tool includes the raised wheel option, as noted in steps 9-11 of the instructi...

Pro Body Tool question
With regards to the Derby Worx Pro Body Tool (and Pro Body Jig), how far up from the bottom edge of the block are the axle holes positioned? Does either tool come with an alternate hole to create a three-wheeler? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply, pwrd by tungsten. Is your body narrowed by 1/16" on the DFW side, as is commonly suggested?
