Re: Eliminating wobble from the track's standpoint

I know we built a faster car this year than last year, but on this track setup, our car actually ran slower (and less consistent) times than last year. Still ended up being fastest, but the times were not where they should have been. This is the situation I am in: my Scout and I put a considerable ...

Re: Eliminating wobble from the track's standpoint

I'm not familiar with the Best Track, as our pack has a wooden Piantedosi track. Does the Best Track have a taper of the guide strip on the uphill end of each section? If not, I believe it would be advantageous to put one in. Read this for a good discussion for what I am suggesting. It explains the...

Eliminating wobble from the track's standpoint

After a frustrating weekend of trying to tune on my 42' Best track, a thought occurred to me: what can I do to tune my Pack's track so as to eliminate (reduce) wobble for the racers? I'm thinking these are some good starting points: Make sure joints are tight Make sure track is level horizontally Ma...

Re: Weight attachment methods

I have never tried elmers glue to hold tungsten cubes. and I have seen super glue fail !! So I stick with the 2 part 5 min epoxy. Now, what I have done in the past. when I wanted the weight, and save the car. Well honestly, there was no magic way. That worked for me everytime, but mostly because I ...

I wasn't sure if Elmer's would be strong enough, but thanks for the reply.

You drill holes in your axles or into the underside of the body, perpendicular to the axles?

Weight attachment methods

In the interest of being able to re-use $25-$30 worth of tungsten each year on my Scout's car (and my Unlimited car), what are some suggestions as to how to securely mount some tungsten cubes, but not so securely that they can't be removed and re-used without destroying the car? I've generally used ...

Re: Unlimited class in heats: how/who to advance

I had this same concern among my Dens. What if I had a really fast Den and they had the 5 top times of the entire pack. Our rules from last year stated that only the top 2 from each Den advance to the finals round. That would mean that the 3rd fastest car in the pack would not be eligible to compet...

Re: Unlimited class in heats: how/who to advance

Does the crowd know the Elapsed times from Den racing or just the one running the computer? Shut off Elapsed times. Fast, slow, medium. It doesn't matter. Hey, that's racing. Run them in each lane you are using once or twice, add each cars elapsed time and deliver the awards. Some cars might actual...

Re: Unlimited class in heats: how/who to advance

What system are you using to race the other classes? Why not race the Unlimited Class the same way? Personally, I prefer a PPN schedule, followed by a PN or CPN final round. We use lane rotation, and race all the Tigers against the Tigers, the Wolves against the Wolves, etc. we advance the top 3 fr...

Unlimited class in heats: how/who to advance

Suppose we have enough Unlimited Class cars that we have to run them in heats. We (race committee) are discussing whether to advance the top x from each heat to the finals (risk: leaving a fast car out of the finals if that car races other fast cars, and advancing a slow car that wins a slow heat), ...

Re: Maximum Velocity 4080: is the step removed?

From the picture on the site, it looks like the step on the outer hub is removed on the 4080 BSA Pro Stock wheels. Can someone confirm that? Thanks. The comparision chart on this page say it has a "coned outer hub". I can confirm that it also looks like the outer hub is removed. :) http:/...
