Re: wood putty at axles?
At the axle, we just sand the wood with micromesh up to 1200. With this treatment, the wood takes on a shiny sheen and feels hard like plastic. Then we rub on MaxV graphite. The type of graphite is key here because the bigger flake stuff doesn't seem to adhere as well in my experience. The MaxV grap...

Re: Drilling positive camber on DFW with Pro Body Jig
Is there a better technique for drilling holes with camber using the Pro Body Jig? FWIW, we have used drill bits as "shims" to tilt the bottom of the block within the jig to drill canted holes, including the rears (kind of like how the bit is used here on the drill press). Is my math righ...

Watch these videos. They should help you allot. http://www.derbytalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=6584" target="_blank Sporty Thanks sporty. I have skimmed over those and watched some before. They seemed to focus on drilling with a drill press which I do not have. I'll look over again. BT...

Drilling positive camber on DFW with Pro Body Jig
I've been noodling on the topic of DFW camber ... For camber, I've relied on bending the axles via the 2.5 deg side of the Pro Rail Rider tool. When using the Pro Rail Rider tool, I slip 2 business card strips in between the tool and the nail to 1) protect the finish of the axle and 2) add a little ...

Re: Noisy DFW with positive camber
Thanks Stan. No I don't have a lathe. But I may be able to apply the concept anyways. Oh ... I should also mention that I tried running the DFW inside out. That got rid of the sound but the speed wasn't much better. When you ran inside out, did you prevent most of the wheel from jamming against the...

Noisy DFW with positive camber
We've been building rail riders for a while with negative camber all around. But for the council race last year I tried a positive camber on the DFW. It helped ... we pulled ahead of everyone who beat us at district. My Tiger took 2nd and my Webilo took 9th. However, one of the challenges I ran into...
