Re: Ultrasonic cleaning for axles!

To Whodathunkit. No, it will not affect the plating. I have info to back that. Ammonia can be used on precious metals and diamonds and gem stones as well. Just need a few tablespoons in a quart of hot water with 6 tablespoons Mr. Clean. E mail me and I can tell U more.

Re: Aggressive COG limits

Hi Vitamin K. I'm restricted to 4 3/8" wheelbase and using stock slots. Car ran 2.533, and 2.516 on a 35' best track with champ timer. No wiggles in those two runs. Aluminum track seems to be the track we are and will be using. Given the previous stats and measurements from the previous posts I...

Re: Aggressive COG limits

Thank U Speedster. I am definitely curious to know your test results on moving COG to .50" in front of axle. I'm thinking you will be ahead of the our car in times.

Re: Ultrasonic cleaning for axles!

Hi Whodathunkit. I have an Ultrasonic cleaner with variable power modes. I use the high power setting and use rubber coated hemostats (tweezers) to hold onto axles while they clean. I use the equivalent of 6 tablespoons of Mr Clean, and ammonia. Takes about 30 seconds. Works awesome!! I've been usin...

Re: Aggressive COG limits

Hi Vitamin K. Thank U for your input and valuable insights! Let's say we are on a best track. Decently set up with good seams. Rear is balanced left-right and aligned properly. 130.5g in rear and 12.5g on DFW with 4.5" of drift in 4', theoretically. Is that pushing limits for BSA stock material...

Aggressive COG limits

Can anyone tell me how aggressive the COG can be on a 4 3/8" wheel base assuming car is properly tuned to railride? The pros run extended wheel base. Is that a determining factor for more aggressive COG?

Re: Polishing axles with cape cod

Yes, to speedster. Progressive diamond grits from 3000, to 50,000 grit with red rouge as your final finish. Clean well between grits, and spend 15 seconds on each. Axles will shine bright and if you check with 10x magnification after each one, you will see improvements through each one.

Re: Starting position for rail riding.

I'm thinking we're on the same page whodathunkit. I'm under the impression that starting the race with no rail contact for a few ft is more of a gain even if the path is a little longer to get back to the rail. I think the gain of less resistance and more speed through the ramp section is more advan...

Starting position for rail riding.

Let's say you have a car set up to railride assuming it's set up properly with drift, dfw, can't and 1/16" inset on dfw. When the car is positioned at the starting gate pin, would it be advantageous to offset it ever so slightly, so that it doesn't railride until the first 2' or 3' of the ramp ...

Re: Polishing axles with cape cod

Im not familiar with cape cod polishing cloths, but they don't sound like they will hurt the surface. Just clean real well after you use them on your axles. I use 50,000 grit diamond polish as a pre-finish, then end with red rouge. The axle will have a very deep shine! I have used many different pol...

Re: ZEP DRY GRAPHITE???

Anything liquid combined with graphite I have read will alter the way graphite slides in microscopic plates over itself. Liquid anything will seemingly alter graphite's effectiveness. Stick with Derby Dad for Hire graphite ranked #1, or Hob-e-lube with Molybdenum added to it ranked #2.

Ok guys, sorry for the vague description. I will attempt to post a pic of the car so you can get a good visual. Are the pics for your eyes only or for any one?

Re: Amount of drift vs. dfw weight.

Thank you Bill ( Speedster). That is very kind and thoughtful to offer your track for tuning. I have a test board I made but that's it. I didn't use bent axles just canted the axles in the slots. A bit tricky since the slots were off but I was able to get them 90deg left and right with a degrees of ...
