Re: Shiny logo to pop

WARNING ! ! ! A $70.000 Tesla Model S caught fire on State Rt. 167 in Kent, a suburb of Seattle. When firemen tried to put out the fire from the batteries the water seemed to intensify the fire. The firemen had to switch to a powder. The Tesla stock immediately dropped $12.05 per share. With this la...

Re: Alternate Derby Wheels

You could do the necessary modifications to the car and use the "Blast" car wheels on the back and Awana wheels on the front. I've cut Awana wheels for a project I was doing. Awana wheels look clever because of the spokes. I simply inserted the wheel in a mandrel, put it in the drill press...

That Logo is impressive. The box is also impressive. It appears we have a cabinet maker in our midst. Beautiful job.

Re: Shiny logo to pop

Good to hear from you, Mr. Noskills Nice looking car. The logo doesn't look too complicated. Paint the entire car chrome or silver metallic and clear coat it. Scotch Brite the clear. Buy 1/8" plastic letters. Stripe out the design using 1/8" and 1/16" striping tape. Paint the car with...

Re: Late than never - Districts

I also CONGRATULATE you and your sons. They are great sports. However, I think the two racers, and the folks watching the race, got short changed. How EXCITING it would have been to see these two boys race their cars. The leaders could have picked out two lanes and raced the cars in a lane and then ...

Re: Custom Paint Stencils

Maximum Velocity has 5 new paint stencils available. I think there will be some mighty fancy paint jobs this year. He's also offering 10% off on orders.

Re: Custom Paint Stencils

I agree with you on the clear coats. They can't be beat for gloss. I knew the clear coats came in a special rattle can even though I buy clear by the quart. However, I did not know the base colors could be purchased in a rattle can. I have been retired for 9 years from body work and obviously am Out...

Re: Custom Paint Stencils

I think you're going to teach me something. How do you put Dupont paint in a rattle can? Or, did I misread that.

Best of Luck in your design work and your race.

Re: Turning Wheels on a Mini Lathe.

Has anyone ever built a test car? Run it down a track with a set of stock wheels. Remove the wheels, work them with a hand shaver and run them down the track . I realize there are a lot of variables once you pull the wheels but it would be interesting if several people did this to see what the resul...

Re: Custom Paint Stencils

Hello, Thejep, I'm not sure from the pictures what paint design you want exactly but let me give you an example. I suspect an air brush was used for some of the design in the picture. If you don't do airbrushing, try this technique. Let's say you want a Red car with a large Yellow Smiley Face. 1. Pa...

Re: Custom Paint Stencils

If Thejep would get back to us I think we could help him. A stencil gives a lot of convenience but usually isn't necessary. Flames can be laid out with masking tape as can anything else. Hopefully he will send us his design and we might be able to open a new world for him on masking and refinishing ...

I wish I had known of this. I would have loved to be there. I am fascinated about the front weighted cars being so successful. Thanks for letting us know about the race.

Re: Custom Paint Stencils

Good Morning, Thejep. Welcome to DT. Would you tell us the design you would like to accomplish? Briefly, there is an unlimited number of things you can do by reversing the procedure that you did with the flame decal. If you will explain your design, or send us a picture, let's see if we can't get yo...
