Re: Something didn't smell right. What do you think?
I have the physical contributions for each type of effect that I cared to analyze in an Excel spreadsheet. Put in the dimensions for the shape of the body, compute the centroid, etc. Note that I don't waste my time between lead or tungsten, since it's just ballast. I've seen discussions about using ...

Re: PWD - Results - Thanks to the site
Woah, I completely missed that- those look like Royal Ranger PWD wheels. Note: We had a District derby back in the mid-'90s, and some of those kits showed up. They were pretty well distributed through the racers- not especially fast or slow, as a general rule. But I still insisted on BSA kits, when ...

Re: A brag on my kids and a rant as well (long)
I agree with Stan, though the boy's friendships formed at the Den and Pack levels will be something to consider. Maybe another chat with the Cubmaster with a focus on ethics will help. The best way to avoid a repeat of illegal wheels at the higher level races is to publish clear and consistent rules...

Just you watch, Teeman, that car is going to have every trick going for it to make sure it is as predictable as possible, so you have all the variables under control...and it's going to be fastest. The Amazing Carnac says...let's wait and see.

Re: Railrider with outlaw wheels
Personally, I'd think that if it isn't banging the rail, but drifting away and drifting back to it, that is probably less friction loss at the rail, thus a better (faster) race...provided the drift isn't the full width of travel available to the car, even if it doesn't hit on the off-dominant side. ...

Re: Hate to see it happen.
To echo PWD_Addict, if you volunteer, you can help point out illegal stuff, and when your son's car appears in front of you, recuse yourself from checking it in. Some people, like the guy above who checked his son's car in, MIGHT learn a lesson in ethics and honesty.

Re: Our first cars
So, where can I buy some of those transparent aluminum axles? I can't go to the 24th and a half century and steal them from the Federation, after all, can I?

Re: Something didn't smell right. What do you think?
Can't help you on the reason those guys won, but... 1. Maybe the track is pitched differently. Is it possible that there is a higher slope in the current location? If so, ALL the cars would be faster. Is that the case? If you ran on an outside location, most sidewalks are pitched 1/4 in per foot, wh...

OK, then there is something up with their configuration, if they win so much. How big is your sample size of competitors, sporty?

Re: New wheel colors ??
REALLY?!? That's a WAY COOL property! Guess I'm off to the Scout Shop for a bucket o' colored wheels. But, before I go berserk, I'll ask now: Anybody else notice this? Also, do any vendors who peruse this site have any experience with this? Another also- is this going to cause outfits like WIRL to o...

Re: Shoe Polish
Shoe "polish" is actually a pretty good grade of wax . There is no abrasive in it. And look at the shine you can get on a pair of black shoes! We used to shine our shoes until they looked like patent leather when I was in the Navy. Just plain ol' Shinola and a lot of spare time underway on...
