Re: new revised output
this project is driving me nuts as the circuit is built in sections then each section is working (debuged) then on to the next section. working on output section, wanted to use mosfets but couldn't get to work. Wire length/ wire flux, switch bounce all play havock w/ electronics. going w/ relays to ...

Re: start tree circuit I have been working on
this project is coming alive. still hung up on the start tree electronics. Fried couple transistors and maybe an IC? Stan Pope is consultiting on circuit. built and operating the solenoid mechanisim for both lanes. Even added an adjustable release so both solenoids release the start gate exactly the...

Re: start tree circuit I have been working on
I got frustrated so I went with relays. easier to control 12v dc lights. had several minior headachs - circuit worked one night, next morn, wound'nt work? found and repaired problems etc. - thats electronics didn't have any NOR gates, just a exclusive OR gate. Probally could have built but am / was ...

Re: Track length vers performance difference?
you might try waxing your track.
I understand it will make it faster.
Also check the levelness of your track at each joint.
good luck

Track length vers performance difference?
Presently have a short 23 ft long track. am adding another 23 feet. Just currious as to what a fast time (ET) one should expect for a good stock car. Present track has only a Order Of Finish indicator. Purchased 2 stand alone timers for "new track" At 43 feet I see 3 seconds is a fast car ...

Re: start tree circuit I have been working on
circuit is alive and operating. Finish up building the tree itself today as well as the solenoid/ start gate mechanisim. The tree is going to utilize 12v automotive clearance lights for the 3 yellow lights, a Radio Shack 12v Blue light for prestaging light, a RS 12v green and red lights for GO or DQ...

Re: Electronic Interference Prevention
ferrit coils and or just looping cables a couple of loops will cancle out most if not all interference.
But running ac cables away from dc cables will help.

Re: Great Day at Districts!
as far as "wearing in " the graphite after applying I found that a cordless drill works really well. apply lube then have drill set on low speed then lightly touch each wheel while drill is running (be sure wheel will rotate in proper rotation (front of car=wheels rotate clockwise so drill...

Re: start tree circuit I have been working on
circuit is coming to life. I thought I was dead in the water as I had a very small soder trace shorting out the power to the 555 thus the chip actually started to smoke. I found problem (RS proto boards suck ) fixed it. had a copper trace come loose, fixed that. Using only a 15watt iron. maybe after...

Re: Adding Reaction Time & Red Light to Start Gate
My plan for the June 30th race is each heat consists of each car goes down the 2 lane track in each lane once. two wins in heat = proceed to next round. 1 win per heat=lowest adverage time advances a red light then you lose that half of the heat. so if you want to advance you must win the second hal...

Re: start tree circuit I have been working on
the 4017 drives the UNL2804 which are 8 darlington arrays which will handle 500ma the 2N3904 replaces the phototransistor in the "who got a red light first" circuit-what elese to call it? a second circuit which has the phototransistors in the circuit detects the cars for a lane win indicat...

Re: Testing for the presence of oil
IMO it's fear that the oil will foul thetrack. I could care less what the so called experts say about oil vers graphite. Graphite w/ moly as long as the graphite has been " run in" so as to break up the long grains has less viscoity so it won't slow down the wheel speed. curious what actua...

Re: Testing for the presence of oil
I may have missed something but I am under the impression that graphite is better than any oil?
If concerned about oil, why not use tissue paper used to clean camera lens"es. Should be dust free?
