Re: Measuring axle bend
The wood goes in a square slot, fits exactly. The outside of the tool is shaped like a "W" The holes are put in the tool at the corresponding angle so when you put it on a drill press the hole in the tool is congruent to the drill, The result is 2.5* of camber. Our first test indicated the...

Re: Measuring axle bend
Sebastian, I can't find my calipers so I can't measure right now. My son probably has it in his room. I guess I'll have to go buy a new set. Sorry

Re: Measuring axle bend
If someone were to make a tool just like the pro body tool but with the holes at an angle, that would be nice! What would be even better is instead of placing the tool across the block of wood, it was sized to go up/down on the side where you want the hole. And it would have two holes with one on e...

Re: Measuring axle bend
I don't bend them at all. I had a tool made like the Pro Body tool that does it for me. I'll see if I can drill a body and tell you what the "bend' amount is. I'm thinking it's in the vicinity of 3/32" maybe 1/8"max. I'm currently using 2.5 degrees. Way back in the day (last century) ...

Re: New Axle sighting? Updated with Pics
but if the rules don't specify that you can't mod the axle heads... FWIW I compared a new PWD axle to an Awana axle this morning, I think you'd need a mic to determine the difference, eyeballing it without the two side by side would be impossible.bigtex wrote:The Awana axle head is a much smaller in diameter...

Re: New Axle sighting? Updated with Pics
So if you buy these and run them how can the check in people tell what they are? I agree they look like my Awana axles with points ground on them.

Re: lube rules
I suspect that the BSA "rules in the box", which say that only dry lubricant is permitted , may also contribute to this theme. Some units see their local rules to be a clarifying addendum to the BSA "rules in the box" (mostly to level the playing field) and therefore do not feel...

Re: lube rules
We have a Freedom track. And graphite makes more of a mess than does oil. I have spray metal polish to clean it as well as a duster. When a graphite car is placed on the track there are often piles of the junk that I have to wipe off with a rag. The metal polish will easily clean the small amount of...

Re: lube rules
Thanks one and all. I'm definitely one to abide by the rules. The only copy I can find is from a neighboring district. The district the kids attend in has no information on their website. The kids parents inform me that the pack and district are quite shabbily run. they are happy that it's the last ...

lube rules
I have to build 2 PWD cars for kids at my church. The pack doesn't care what lube you use. For the past two years one of the kids has gone undefeated and this is his last year. He wants to take his car to districts. The only district rules I can find are for a neighboring district and they say "...

Re: Grand Prix shocker
We do several workshops, attendance is sparse. However, I think when people see what we do for them we'll get more. I also don't buy Awana blocks any more. I make the blocks from donated wood and drill axle holes (extended wheelbase) so everyone gets some benefit. DFR (Dent family racing) always hel...
