Isn't it about high time that timer manufacturers included a USB interface? There will never be a USB Judge, because most customers want to be at the start gate with the computer, so that they can be conversant with the folks setting the cars, rather than shouting the length of the track. This is definitely not a case where more is better. You are three orders of magnitude too bright with the Xenon. If you want to go with incandescent (filament) type lights, that is ok, but four flashlight bulbs wired so that they are just orangy bright is more than enough. If you want to try IR diod...

Sorry I did not see this post earlier, but if you would help to make this unit into a 3 lane with 3.5" spacing, I will do so for $20. Just send the Judge itself and the illuminator assembly.

The outward signal from the computer is pin 3, but if this is used as a light tree trigger, the light tree would trigger upon any character sent. For example, if you were sending the * character to reset the Judge, it would also trigger the light tree, which might not be what you want to do at that ...
