Re: Question about The Judge Cable
Did some emailing with John and these are the tech specs for the cable. I'm gonna put them here in case somebody is Googling for the info and needs it: The connectors are technically RJ9, also known as 4P4C, the land line handset size. Also, the orientation is important (opposite to the telecom sta...

Re: Localhost IP Error when starting race
Hi, I finally got around to checking for this option. We are using Grand Prix Race Manager 14 and I do not see advanced option anywhere. Version 14 is getting pretty old (released in 2014). Version 22 is the latest version. Go to the Software Settings screen. Then click on the Advanced button in th...

Re: Question about The Judge Cable
Well, we weren't able to find a cable in time, so we ended up just having to run the race by points. It's nice that the Judge permits running in offline mode, but they really need to put more info about those cables on their site. The link to email on the site is non-functional. Is there any way to...

Re: Question about The Judge Cable
I can't find specifications on the website, so I thought I would ask here. The cable that connects the Judge Timer to the start gate latch appears to be a telephone cord, but an RJ11 connector is too fat to fit. Does anybody know what kind of cable it requires? Is it RJ9? New Directions really ough...

Re: Localhost IP Error when starting race
Are you using GPRM to control RaceReplay or RaceFX? If not, you need to go to the Advanced Software Settings screen and turn off the External Apps Communications. At some point that got enabled.

Re: In Memoriam: Dr. John D. Jobe
Sorry to hear that he passed. I had some communications with him many years ago. He indicated that he had a company that was going to produce his track and pendulum gate design. That never came to fruition. I did base my electromagnetic start gate on the pendulum gate principles.

Re: Diy sanding tools for model making
Try wrapping a layer of electrical tape on the square one to get a better hold. Maybe a strip laid lengthwise, instead of wrapped.

Re: Diy sanding tools for model making
I ordered 2 sets of each.. and will let you know if they work out. Shipping is rather high with that company. I do notice that AliExpress has these. I also see several sellers on Amazon (search on "manual sandpaper stick"). If they work out well, I can see these working for a new hobby th...

Re: Diy sanding tools for model making
I ran across these handy little sand paper holders.. thinking that the square one would be easier on my hands and fingers while doing axle prep. https://www.olsonsaw.net/shop/sanding-tools/3m-wet-dry-micron-graded-polishing-papers/sandpaper-holders-choice-of-round-or-square/ Looks interesting. Re: GPRM Option to keep a car out of adjacent heats?
We are using Grand Prix Race Manager, I think it's version 20 something (it's on a different computer sorry). We used the Perfect N-Type schedule to run 32 cars for x2 for a total of 64 heats that were run. What the volunteers all noticed is that several times during the race the schedule would hav...

Re: GPRM v20, questions about - Awards / Audience Display / Modernize a track
1) Is there a way to set the software to "throw out" a Rank level 1st place if that car won the Over-all 1st 2nd or 3rd place trophies? Yes. In the Standings tab of the Software Settings screen, you can opt to "Exclude Grand Finals Winners". The selected number of top racers wil...

Re: Micro Wizard's New "Quick Pack Track"
Our organization found this review helpful when it acquired a MicroWizard Freedom Track with the newer "Quick Pack Track" features. Glad that it was helpful. I've put this setup through its paces for many a race over the years and it was certainly labor saving and easier to manage. Sadly,...
