Re: Three questions on axle polishing

There are lots of charts out there, most disagreeing with each other. Here is another (doesn't go too high though): http://www.onlineindustrialsupply.com/frasqu.html

Re: Drill Press Vice?

The adult can hold the vice in position on the drill press table and have the kid do the drilling of the block. Slide the vice around on the drill press table to position the block for the next plunge with the Forstner bit. This is really what we do. Kids love to do the drilling and the adult (gues...

Re: Any experience some #44 drill bits making too big of a h

I am surprised FatSebastian didn't cite one of my favoritely titled threads for this http://www.derbytalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3401&hilit=too+fat+for+me . The conclusion there led toward shorter carbide bits or brad point bits from Advantage. We had good 'luck' (?) with brad point bits from Full...

Re: Is there a cost to victory? You bet!

I just have to put one comment into this. We live in an area where the norm, and there are exceptions, is for adults to stage cars. In our Pack specifically, this is what's done. But, there is an important distinction. The adults use custom made trays to safely carry one heat's worth of cars between...

Re: Won Den & Pack Race

Is your front dominant canted? If so, on the non-dominant side, you will need a half a degree more to make up for the raised hole. (just add a business card over the axle when using the axle bending tool. Start with the non-dominant rotated so that it is not touching, and slowly rotate it down, wit...

Re: We're Officially Retired (may come out in 20 years from

Another dumb, misunderstood or non-logically applied rule. If their Pack dues were paid for the YEAR, and they made their cars as Cub Scouts, why should anyone care ?

Re: Tuning Board Questions

Wow, some pretty trick boards here !! My board is 6' long and its a decent piece of hard wood. I use both sides. One side has a guide strip down the majority of the length (within a few inches of the ends), and is set up to do Stan's rear wheel alignment or anything like that. The other si...

Ask RacerX (Bill at DerbyWorx). That is near his neighborhood and maybe he knows.

Re: When is too early to complete a car before race day?

I think a month before is a reasonable start time, depending on many things, but wouldn't suggest any less if you want to be competitive. Most Tigers can only handle little slices of work at a time, so that is one reason to take longer. Webelos can go a lot longer if they are inspired, but they may ...

Re: RR and COM question?

7/8" is safe. You can shorten it if you do the rest of the car well ... and the better you do the parts, the closer you can pull that CM back! Just adding ... flavor your aggressiveness with knowledge of the track(s) you will be riding on. The smoother the track and joints, the more aggressive weig...

Re: Rail Run or not with 4 wheels down?

There are going to be some very confused people with all of these terms flying around. :? :idk: For anybody confused, don't be ! These terms are ALL equivalent. :D Instead, pay attention to whether or not you are going to ride on a track with a center guide (like most wood and aluminum) or an edge ...

Re: Has anyone heard of this lube?

I hope the product is better than some of their misleading advertising " Wet oil based lubes are not acceptable as they can melt the inside of your plastic wheel, and foul the race track. Oil based lubes will also attract dust which will slow down your race car. " Sure some oils can melt plastic, bu...
