It looks like it should be possible. Too bad I don't have a test track . . .

Re: Stupid question - How do I post pictures?
Check out this thread: http://www.derbytalk.com/viewtopic.php?t=10 for information on posting pics. I use http://www.photobucket.com to post my pics. Photobucket actually provides a box that has the actual code in it to paste into a post. I just copied this from the IMG Code box (ctrl-c is copy), an...

Re: Rule about 3/8" underbody clearance
In our pack, we don't usually have an option of having test runs on the track. We can only use the facility for our Derbies for that day. The inspectors do their best to make sure that all cars will pass the finish line (48 feet) and all of them did this year. Most of what they focus on is making su...

Re: First Time Derby Car
I will admit, though, that the sight of kids "playing" with them on the floor still sends a small shiver down my spine. I didn't think I'd feel that way watching other kids with their cars but I certainly did. Fortunately, there were only one or two and it was before the finals so my son ...

First Time Derby Car
My Tiger and I built this car together. We made his Space Derby entry silver with dark blues stars and moons, which he named "Night". So, he wanted to name this one "Day" and painted it accordingly. http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t47/daveosh/PWD_car.jpg I asked him if he want...

Re: Rule about 3/8" underbody clearance
I hate to resurrect this thread but I have to respectfully disagree with everyone on this. What happens in a Pack where there is no track-time (test & tune) for the cars beforehand, no track available at check-in (Derby is staged elsewhere), and it's a brand new Tiger Cub/Dad who is building the...

Re: Wheel Wobble
...Should I get a Pro-Shaver and use it on the 10s? I'm not sure that I can use a Pro-Shaver due to our rules. Wheels may be sanded to remove the flashing only. NO reductions in width or diameter, or changes in shape are allowed. Does that mean the Pro-Shaver wouldn't be allowed? Check with your Di...

Wheel Wobble
Being as this was our first PWD (we won the pack Derby), I have a question about wheel wobble. I mold-matched a set of wheels. Used #3. It is extremely round as measured by the micrometer. However, when sanding the surface it seemed to have a bit of runout. I did find a couple of 10s that didn't run...

Re: Rail riding compromise
Joe how much do you feel is to much to narrow the front end? And PWD_addict I am curious,do your rules actually state that you can not narrow the block or do they give you some sort of minimum measurement? Here's the quote: "The car width at the wheels may not be modified; it must be the same ...

Re: Rail riding compromise
That's quite clever. I've been wondering how to do a RR being as we're not allowed to narrow the body at the axles. I would not be surprised if my amateur alignment job might have done something similar unintentionally.

Re: Moving on to Districts
CM location is something that you will see varying opinions on the forum. The longer the track the bigger difference in opinion you will see. On a 32 foot track it is pretty simple. I believe that when you get to a 48 foot track or anything longer aggressive CM hurts. I even believe this is true wh...

Re: Moving on to Districts
I'm not exactly sure what will happen at Districts. Since it's so early, I'm not sure that District has decided yet. I plan to go to the next roundtable and volunteer our Pack's track. I understand it's the nicest one in the District anyway. Assuming that it's our 48 foot smooth track, if we move CM...

Moving on to Districts
Well, my son and I conquered the Pack in our very first Pinewood Derby race, thanks to this board, the fine products at Maximum Velocity, and Stan Pope's web page. Cal wanted to call it Day (his Space Derby entry was "Night)" so here are the specs. 4.08 oz rear, 0.92 oz in front and CM was...
