Re: Small derby - got any advice?

Use Stan's charts, actually if you DL the the zip file to run locally you can create the charts after all the boys register. Print out the charts so you can keep track of the finish order. Have two people keeping track. Use two judges with two backups (so no one judges their own boy). If you run a l...

Re: Securing the axles in place

I'm thinking too runny. I can see the supeglue running down the axle and glueing the wheel to the axle. Or worse, your son's finger. The gel type will stay in place.

Joker,
Would you be willing to send me the same instructions you sent ranman106 and texasprd on razor wheels? I would like to experiment.

Thanks

Re: NewBold DT2000 timer - connections

I don't have the DT series but I have the Turbo/Daytona. The wiring for this one is - Start switch using thin "speaker wire" to a black two pin female connector This plugs into the timer box. On the Daytona the plug is labelled ST Each finish line sensor (what you are calling "stop se...

I measured 7 3/4 inches from pin to back edge. Our pins are set all the way back in the starting pin slot.

Got it, thanks for the clarification.

Re: The Boy LEARNS! and a cry for help

MaxV,
I will be using a drill press which as far as I can tell has very little run out with a fence . Should I be using something else?

Re: Grand Prix question

Thanks, I think I understand (big emphasis on "think"). I guess we're just falling into the sweet zone of the generator. I'm happy because it lets the boys run 16 times.

Re: The Boy LEARNS! and a cry for help

Thanks guys. I think the toothpick might work best. Not enough wood left to hold the screw and definitely not enough to drill another hole. Thanks for the advice.

Grand Prix question

:? We upgraded our track to 4 lanes and now I am in the process of testing GP with 4 lanes instead of 3. I noticed that with four lanes, I can always generate a chart no matter how many boys I have entered or how many times in each lane. If I go 3 lanes or 5 or six or whatever, once I get above a ce...

Kudos

Just wanted to give kudos to Steve over at BestTrack and the folks at Newbold. Both have been a pleasure to work with for the past two years. We bought the original track and timer last year and this year upgraded both to 4 lanes. Both had great, quick service and both are very quick to answer quest...

The Boy LEARNS! and a cry for help

Well, we got our cars cut out (at least my 10 y/o son's and mine, just two more to go) thanks to my new workshop tools. I thought I was doing pretty good. I built a bolt - long thin in middle with extended wheelbase with one raised wheel. I got it down to .25 oz. Then we started working on my son's ...
