Re: Single most important element?
Stan, thanks for quick reply. Best I could tell he had all four touching. Car ran very smooth. His heat races were not close except in finals when he went up against #3 or #1. He only lost once to #3, otherwise always a 1,2,3 finish. Track is an older (modern design) 32' Piantidosi. Very good shape,...

Single most important element?
Our committee recently convened for our post derby meeting. The hot topic amongst the few Pineheads was the second place finisher in pack. My son was the pack winner in an extremely close final. I know what we put into his car. He spent many hours on axle polish, wheel prep, sanding and finishing. W...

Re: What to do about bought e-bay car?
NE, Thanks again for your insight. Kid had a blast, so did dad. He finished 3rd in his den and was delighted. Got a medal and was grinin ear to ear. Did not fair as well in final. Not bad considering we slapped it together in an hour or so. Basic wedge ripped on table saw with jig I made. Pro body t...

Re: PWD Committee ??'s
As a first time chairman, I can only ditto everything Darin posted. Hand out rules and technical info. Workshops work well, parents attendance is an asset. An op to clearly demonstrate what is allowed and not. Get as much help as available!

Re: What to do about bought e-bay car?
nosam,
Precisely what we did, and what I intended when stating "help was offered to get him going". I invited both to my home work shop and we built car as a group. Derby is this evening. Hope he does well. Much more rewarding experience knowing he had a hand in construction.

Re: Wheel advice
PackMan, There are many here far more experienced than me. What I find ironic is drilling holes in the sidewall and lathing the interior is ok, but not the tread surface! :? How about hub coning? To remove interior material, I have experimented using a wheel mandrel and cordless drill in a vice. Lev...

Re: What to do about bought e-bay car?
Thank you all for the thoughtful comments. A resolution is at hand. Armed with the e-bay listing I provided, our Cubmaster contacted parent. He very graciously read him our rules regarding construction. Father was very truthful, in fact did not argue his case as I had anticipated. (Father is a lawye...

Re: What to do about bought e-bay car?
NE. Thanks for the prompt and insightful response. As Derby chair I wear many hats, primarily because I am one of the few parents who show an avid interest. I am responsible for technical inspection. Our rules are quite liberal. We allow extended wheel base and alternative lubes. Wheels and axles st...

What to do about bought e-bay car?
Hello all, My first year as our derby chair. We have a pre-race weigh in which usaually coincides with a pack meeting. An opportunity for the kids to weigh in, make adjustments and see what others have cooked up. Well... Wouldn't you know, I notice a car that looks strangely familar. I get home and ...

Krytox application
Hello all, first time poster long time lurker. I owe a debt of gratitude to all the regular posters. My question, anyone (Terry, Buckeye) familar with the appropriate application method for Krytox 100? I've tried the search feature came up empty. I understand it is less critical than NyeOil. However...
