Some good info in the Post -- Adding a Friction Brake to an old track.

Re: Wheels Rules
The point I was trying to make is no matter what rule is made some teams are going to make it work to their advantage without cheating. Think of building a rail rider by going through hundreds of nails until you find bent ones that you can use. I wonder if 99.99% of scouts really care what rules are...

Re: Wheels Rules
Would you not be giving an unfair advantage to the Master Machinist on DT, and all his friends, with a 1.180 rule if they can acquire wheels at 1.189? If you truly are going to measure the diameter of these wheels, I vote for that 1.170 rule. That would be my favorite.

Re: Wheels Rules
In the words of Mr Pope, "Better to use wheel features". The same scouts are going to win every year because they put the time necessary into building the car. They might have their own track, or tracks, in their garage to test their cars. They might study DT. Building cars and testing the...

Re: Pinewood Derby Rules
I have a question and a comment. Are you running this race on ONE track? Our District allows the top 2 scouts from each grade to participate, we have 2 tracks, and it takes all day. I don't know how many packs in your District but is it possible for a 1,000 people to show up? This will be my 28th ye...

Re: Track damage from Open Class cars?
I'd like to explain our "OUTLAW" racing . It is not serious racing. This is done in our Pack, not our District. I have several Radio Controlled cars that cannot be beat. They never win a trophy. All cars are won by children and ladies. After I win a few races the back end of my car is lift...

Re: Track damage from Open Class cars?
YEP !!!! It can happen although an aluminum track is probably more difficult to damage compared to a wood one. We go wild in The OUTLAWS. The timer is probably the item that will be damaged the most, possibly destroyed. We use to take the timer off and call them by "eye" but years ago we s...

Re: Using slots rule question
I'm wondering about that 4 1/4" wheelbase. How accurately are they going to measure the wheelbase? Is it not 4 3/8"?

Re: Pinewood Derby History In The Making!
That is SUPER GREAT !!!!! I thoroughly enjoyed it. I couldn't help but notice in the picture of the 1960 March theme, the tall scout on the right appears to have cant on his wheels and is rail riding. Is it possible that young scout is one of Sporty's ancestors? Hmmmm? Best of Luck in your collection.
