Re: Sad Really
I have seen strict rules handed out with the kits. But come race day everything passes. Not uncommon, seen it myself. Even something as major as standard vs extended wheelbase. Also, some of the stuff that seemed clear in the rules, may not be clear come inspection. Or maybe I should say ANYTHING t...

Re: Technique to strengthen thin wood
Are you talking about painting the top and putting epoxy underneath, or ? I am trying to understand why you wouldn't epoxy before painting so it is stiff before/after paint.stang68 wrote:We paint then apply epoxy ...

Re: Wheel tread sanded with bevel
This is really obvious when you just stand the wheel up on its tread surface on a flat table. Lay it this way next to an untreated or properly treated wheel and you won't need any fancy equipment. We had the same result from pushing hard near the end of work with a Pro-Wheel Shaver.

Re: Weight placement
Two quick points: - not sure some are catching what the experts here are saying relative to standard wheel base (SWB) cars needing a more conservative COM (in the range W Racing and Stan have provided) than an extended WB car - this is important; - I think this is a great area to practice on in the ...

Re: Will this Create Drag?
As long as they use the one from last year, aluminum (slope then flat) and fold down style gates. Typically, this is all about whether a human, versus a rubber band or a spring (as part of an electronic gate) is opening the gate, not the exact style of the gate. Humans can get tired ! Our Pack has ...

Re: 1st in District for Wolves!
So the nice thing was an opportunity for some parents to shine - and some did, which is a great example for their kids and others. But that rule, as is, is not practical at all. Some would say unenforceable since there is no definition of what a '"fast start" design is. Does it have to hav...

Awesome !!! Really great overall !
Is that really cut into the wood ? I have made plastic pegs kind of like that before, but either screwed them into the side or epoxied from the bottom.

Re: plates vs. cubes
We have used just about everything but the 3/8" cylinders. First off, regarding the plates. I know of (3) designs out there. The ones MaxV and others sell are ~ 1.417" x 0.551" x 0.063" at 1/2 oz or slightly more. There are PineCar plates that are ~ 1.435" x 0.452" x 0....

Re: RR Question am I on the right track? (pun intended)
Note that [junk]. camber raises the car a bit, whereas negative camber hardly lowers the body at all. You need to compensate for this when selecting the NDFW hole location. Is there any guidance on how much to raise the NDFW ? Are we talking like ~ 1/32" ? I would seem logical, but not real pr...

Re: Hsas anyone built Randy Underwood's Christmas Tree?
Interesting - the ULN2003 type device was used in my first project decades ago and it is still quite useful today !! AFAIK it really has no power connection though. Pin 9 is a diode common pin to limit maimum voltages when driving devices with some stored energy kick (i.e. relays). It can be connect...

For this interested in the variable angle plate, machinist tool, ENCO has a fairly wide one (1 11/32") on clearance, but still pretty price ($55, not including shipping): http://www.use-enco.com/CGI/INSRIT?PMAKA=JE893-1861&PMPANO=0583930&PMKANO=282&PMKBNO=2395&PMPAGE=13&PART...
