Re: Fastest Color?
This is actually an interesting topic. What is the thoughts out there. If you paint the bottom of your car flat black will you eliminate the glare to make sure the timing system does not get interfered with or does it not matter?

When your paint stripes what is the best tape to make sure there is not bleed through? It looks like the blue stuff might bleed. Does everyone just use plain masking tape?[/quote]

Decals
We have used many dry decals in the past with a lot of good luck on our cars, however one of my sons wants a design that we would have to print out off the computer. Has anyone had any luck making their own decals and if so what process did you use? We once tried just regular paper but when we put t...

Groved cut BSA axels....any good?
I know there is a lot of debate regarding graphite and groved axels, however has anyone tried the BSA speed axels from ABC Pinewood Derby? http://www.[no advertising for this vendor].com/axles.htm I have a friend who bought them because he had trouble last year. His car was realy fast during the day...

Re: Between the wheel hub and Body
Guys,
When rubbing graphite onto the block I am assuming you use regular graphite to keep it as smooth as possible compared to the graphite/moly lube or doesn't it matter?

Im just using the plain cubscout block. Stan your right....if the alignment is right it shouldn't hit it that hard.

Re: Between the wheel hub and Body
For those of you that just rub in graphite on the bare wood. Have you seen issues with the soft pine getting deep marks in it from the wheel hub hitting it or does the graphite also harden it up?

Re: moving the axle location
I understand the longer wheelbase but if you need to use the standard wheel base what is the benefit of having the back wheels further back and the nose of the car longer?

Re: moving the axle location
Im confused about why to move the axel back. We also have to use the same slots and as long as the CG is where you need it does it really matter? I understand why this is important on the extened wheelbase but I am not sure if I get it on the standard.

Re: Which way is forward?
Thanks everyone. From our research we are feeling somewhat comfortable with a lot of the other aspects of building the car. It just seemed like a simple thing about which way to point the block. Im sure as we get more into it nothing will be simple about this little pine block!

Which way is forward?
Hi, We are building one of our first cars and have done a lot of reseach off of this site. It has a ton of great info! One item we cannot find is when your rules require you to use the original slots which slots do you use for the front and backof your car. I always thought the slots closer to the e...
