"Willful disregard and callousness"?
I agree with Randy on this one. I understand that it's sad that the lady (and others) got hurt by the coffee. Don't put hot liquids in your lap! Duhhh.
Cooler liquid means less burned- but still burned.

Re: How fanatical are you guys? (Instrumenting a car.)
Yeah, my little plastic Webelos Scout PWD car driver doesn't talk much... You'd probably have to do RF transmit to keep a cable from interefering with the data. There are packages out there that may be small enough. Also, it shouldn't be too hard to put the package where it gives the correct cg. In ...

Niiice! You made that track clearance slot look natural. That is one of the things stopping me from making that style- the gap looks awkward, but not in yours.

Re: Track rental: What's a fair price?
Never just lend out your track setup. There should always be someone from your pack to accompany it to make sure it doesn't get damaged and all parts gets returned. Case in point, I let another pack just come and get my track (which I have since sold). When they were finished, the Cubmaster didn't ...

Re: Am I missing something?
Teeeman, I was only referring to the axle-wheel friction. Static friction, as you know, has to be overcome to start rolling. After that the sliding friction I was referring to is at the axle-wheel interface. I really only wanted to address that, because the rolling friction on an aluminum track with...

I've had good luck with the Best track using a CG at .7".

Re: Am I missing something?
The lower the angle at which it starts rolling, the lower your static (starting) friction, which in general means probably the sliding friction is lower as well.

Re: Car Carry Case
I personally have an old wooden cigar box (a castoff, I don't smoke anything) that I sanded and varnished. On the inside of the lid is the cover off of an old issue of Boy's Life that shows a Scout making the Scout Sign with the caption "On my Honor..."

"This wheel appears to have been left in the sun for an extended time" [/Klingon] We're all the way to water-soluble oil-cooled machining in this thread! Calm down, and back slowly away from the keyboard, easy, now... On that note, I've zorched a large number of wheels, myself. Smoked 'em ...

Anyone else notice that #8 had "H" wheels on it? Just look at the discoloration across the threads.

I like it (but not pickles). Too bad they don't make green wheels.

Re: I now understand - comparing track times
A 2% difference in height translates to a 1% difference in speed...give or take a little. A 49" starting elevation yields about a 494 cm/s speed, and a 50" starting elevation yields about 499 cm/s speed. 5 cm/s is about 2"/s. In a three-second race, that's 6 inches. 6 inches is essent...

Joe Walsh!
A free "plant" in every back yard...what a platform.
I was listening to the radio many years ago once when Joe was being interviewed. He was so stoned out of his gourd, it was painful to hear.
