Re: Group order?

I was planning on printing or exporting the full schedule (meaning all for round 1 using the lite version, not the "master schedule"). It's also in alphabetical order as well. Is there any danger in using "1 tiger" "2 wolf" etc. to get the printed schedule the way I wan...

Group order?

Hello all- I don't see a way to do it, but I thought I'd ask a question about GPRM: is there a way to order the groups within a round? The only place it really matters is on the printed schedule report at the round level. I wish it would show the dens in rank order instead of alphabetical. My workar...

Re: Ideas for implementing Turtle (or gas mileage) race

We haven't actually included a "best mileage" award in our derbies yet, but we've discussed it. Our plan was to follow our normal points-based system, but to include an award for the car with the most points (worst finishes, slowest), in addition to the cars with the fewest points (best f...

Re: Ideas for implementing Turtle (or gas mileage) race

Most just make it part of the regular speed event. If it was a separate race, I wonder if the "regular speed event" could somehow serve as the qualifier, i.e., go slow enough (however measured) and you qualify for competing in the turtle race. That way, slow cars see more racing. We did d...

Ideas for implementing Turtle (or gas mileage) race

Hello all- I've had a few people recommend we try a turtle race in our pack pinewood derby this year. I think it's an interesting idea, and we'd announce it well ahead of time, so people can build specifically for it. Some parents like the idea, as winning a turtle trophy doesn't mean you feel press...

Re: What to display on projector?

I don't want to do anything that is not recommended. Is there a better way to do the turtle race?

Re: What to display on projector?

Ok, cool. but the standings between groups meaningful? Is the car with the highest points necessarily the slowest car out of all the groups?

You also you won't see times when racing in points mode, but are the times recorded someplace that I can look them up?

Re: Need room layout advice

This concern resonates with me. The derbies I've been in have mostly been focused on the racing, but there's never been a lot of chance to admire some of the creativity put into the car by the boys and their parents. I'd love a solution that would allow good viewing of the lineup, while still maint...

Re: What to display on projector?

You can view the Turtle standings in the large font standings screen or the reports or select the Round level on the standings tab of the main screen and just look to the bottom of the list. For this, you mean that the "turtle" winner is the one with the highest points? I don't see a time...

Re: Need room layout advice

That's a really good idea, but my concern is that if the cars are stored up on the stage, they're unavailable for viewing by the audience. I guess we could maybe open up the stage for a few minutes during intermission to allow folks to go look. I'm also a little worried that the projector and/or com...

Re: What to display on projector?

Thanks. Regarding not showing times in points mode, doesn't it show Mph? I assume that's calculated based on elapsed time, so is there a similar concern of people keeping track? What about if we give a trophy for the overall slowest car. Is there a way to see that, even when running in points mode? ...

What to display on projector?

Hello all- In a couple of months, I'm going to be running our pack pinewood derby race. For many years we've done double-elimination brackets on paper, but I'd like to move to a perfect-n schedule. I'm going to be using GPRM. The main thing I can't figure out is what to display on the projector, and...

Need room layout advice

Hello all- I'm running a pinewood derby for about 30-35 scouts in a small gym, and I'd like some advice on how to set up the room, specifically a projector. Attached is a picture of the way we've done things in the past. The laptop and projector would be new. The top of the picture is a stage, which...
