Re: Rules versus Inspection

knotthed, not Sprint cars on a short track. They run a junk tire on the left front because it's rarely on the ground and it shouldn't be. We did not have "four on the ground rule for 27 years". That's the truth. This will be my 29th year with the Commodore Perry District. I was exiled 3 ye...

Re: USA axles in Chinese tubes

Some of the tubes had the cap that went inside the tube like USA, and they were USA, and some had the cap that went over the outside. The tubes that went over the outside were sealed, or at least appeared to be. The tubes that went inside were not. They all had the Revell Sticker. Hobby Stop West is...

Re: Rules versus Inspection

What does he mean, "Just like real cars all 4 wheels are on the ground". That guy never saw a Drag Race. A Pinewood Derby car is not the Family Sedan. I was able to get rid of that miserable rule this year explaining to the Boss how people were breaking their cars right before the race try...

USA axles in Chinese tubes

I buy Chinese wheels and axles in the tube to get the Chinese axles to re-sell to the racers. It saves them from making a trip. I bought 5 tubes yesterday from Hobby Stop West and all had the Revell sticker. They are all mixed up. Some of the wheels are made in the USA with USA axles, Revell sticker...

Do you sell product at workshops?

For the 1st time I offered 3/8" by 6" lead rod which is 3.8oz. (Maximum Velocity Bulk) and a tube of Chinese wheels/axles at one of our workshops. I like the axles. I charge $3.00 for either one which is less then they can buy it plus it saves them time and gas. I also offer tungsten canop...

Re: weight placement

itgl72, I was Off Topic. Sorry. I'd like to try to answer your question. By the Type of weight placement I take it you mean the area you place the weight. Yes, it matters a lot. Weight is weight is correct. A pound of feathers and a pound of tungsten weigh the same. However, their density is not the...

Re: Wobbling Axle/Wheel Combo

I have a grooved .091 stainless steel axle in front of me. Immediately under the head there is a VERY narrow groove that I cannot measure with a caliper. I can see it through a magnifying glass. The tapered end of the caliper is too thick and when I try to measure the groove it measures .091. After ...

I was going to give you my thoughts but it'd be a lot less typing for me if you'd just re-read Stan's last post.

Re: Newbie back again

Hi there, davet, You're getting a lot of info from Stan. It's very interesting and educational. Thanks to both of you. In your 1st paragraph you stated you run on an aluminum track. I hope it's in good shape. If you are able, help set it up and you can check the joints for yourself. I have a 2 lane ...

He did WHAT !!!

Our rules state "Axles MUST be inserted in to the pre-made slots only". I learned yesterday at a workshop that someone in the District cut off both ends of the car, cut the car in half, and inserted the ends into the middle giving him an extended wheelbase car. I see our rules might be a b...

Re: District Best Design-No Awards

The 1st and 2nd place speed winners and the 1st place Best Design winner go to District. The problem is the 1st and 2nd place speed winners often also win the Best Design and they have to choose one or the other. That often results in a car that might not look so good. I hope the scout has fun at th...
