Re: "No response received from timer" after one heat...HELP!

Randy, Stuart received the timer, and has sent me this message so far: "I can't find anything wrong. I will keep testing, but right now it is sending and receiving data." Is it possible for you and he to communicate further on this? I have asked if he is using GPRM 15. Hopefully we can get...

Re: Bare wood or paint where wheel touches car?

We have considered the flatness and parallelism of the body are to the wheel. Truthfully with the positive camber, the negative camber, and toe in are any of the body surfaces true and parallel? We have been pondering making a sanding fixture that would allow me to sand that area of the body by maki...

Re: Bare wood or paint where wheel touches car?

I got a bottle of this as a participation gift at an indoor R/C flying event, and we have been using it on this years cars. Seems like a good application of it. It has a brush applicator built in. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-TkHjZdCAM7w/VpEm9rrnB5I/AAAAAAAAFMI/ApI0Jad3z-M/s640-Ic42/16%252520-...

Re: Solenoid Start Gate Circuit

An update on my start solenoid. I used the car door lock style actuator, and found it easy to mount with just a plate of 1/8 aluminum attached to the track wit the standard captive nuts and bolts, and then tapped the plate for #6-32 bolts that fit through the mounting holes. I have this powered by a...

Re: "No response received from timer" after one heat...HELP!

I was hoping it was the DB9 as well, that was the first thing we took apart when my buddy was here. The back of the connector solder joints are clean, solid and full. Will be interested to hear what the issue was once Stuart gets it.

Re: The Process of Speed

Condition 9 is not a legal condition for our Pack. Those are kit USA wheels my brother trued on a lathe to a runout measured at .0005 or less. This process lightened them as well to a still 'legal' 2.45 grams, but clearly lighter than the stock wheel which are around 2.6 grams each. Our rules so no ...

Re: The Process of Speed

The tests were run with a two car heat in GPRM, each running once on each lane for a total accumulated time over four runs. The series 2 car was drilled on a block similar to the commercially available ones. 3 degrees of negative camber in the rear, zero camber on the fronts, right front is the domi...

The Process of Speed

As you may know I am setting up a 42' Best Track for my pack. One of the liberties I am taking in the process of doing all the work is a test program to show the kids the 'science' behind what they do to their cars. I hope to employ this into a speed workshop at the Pack since we now have a a track ...

Re: "No response received from timer" after one heat...HELP!

Yes, I do have the pro version, but hopefully it does not come to that. I had a computer programmer friend come over with Hyperterminal and some serial communication diagnostic tools. He confirmed that we are sending and receiving all the way through the serial cable. For some reason the timer is no...

Re: "No response received from timer" after one heat...HELP!

Well I figured out the FUNterm echo test. I must have pins 2 and 3 jumpered to type. (a piece of 3/32 aluminum tubing bent in a U makes a good jumper). When I hit enter, all that happens is the cursor moves to the beginning of the line. In my 3AM stupor last night it did not dawn on me that this was...

Re: "No response received from timer" after one heat...HELP!

If I power the timer down and back up AFTER I open the hardware tab, I get the RS information sent to the Timer Data box as seen below. It seems to me the timer is sending data, but will not receive or acknowledge anything GPRM sends it. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-OYpb1e0LHB0/VoTafIPXDwI/AAA...

Re: "No response received from timer" after one heat...HELP!

If you are asking if the timer is connected and powered up when I start GPRM and go into the Hardware screen, yes. I had some more E-mails with Stuart. I think based on the paperclip test it may be a timer hardware issue. I want to run the test with FUNterm, but it will not allow me to type commands...

Re: "No response received from timer" after one heat...HELP!

I started it up again, never connected to the timer. I could run multiple test from the USB to serial then the serial and communicated in all cases.
