Re: Wind Power - Younger Scouts vs. Older Scouts
billbillb, While racing within the Ranks; don't forget the other non-offical Ranks in Scouting: the adults and siblings! We have races among the Leaders and Parents as well as among the other brothers and sisters of our Cub Scouts (siblings 11 years and older are considered Adults for our races). Th...

Re: Wind Power - Younger Scouts vs. Older Scouts
I don't think that there is a way to equalize the lung capacity advantage an older Cub Scout has versus a younger Cub Scout. While a very skilled younger Captain can beat a less experienced older Captain (even us 40+ year old 'boys' ), we don't have this situation happen very often. Most of o...

Re: New to Raingutter... need pics!
Teeeman, I've only seen one Cat at a RR race in person but unfortunately my cameraman was more interested in something else besides taking pictures and we didn't end up with one of this boat. Don't know if you would want to copy it as it did not do so well due to trying to nose over when raced. It w...

Re: Tropies and medals??
Krjpy, I used both sites trophy builder or build your own trophy - whatever they call it pages to have a look at their available figurines. Than I looked for Boat or Regatta figurines and found that they were listed under Boats. After typing the above I figured I had time before Scouts to give you t...

Re: Tropies and medals??
Krjpy, Looking for some trophies for Raingutter Regatta myself. I can't remember who we've gotten them from in the past but I took a few minutes at lunch and found some at Crown Awards ( http://www.crownawards.com/StoreFront/indexmain.html ) and Dinn Brothers ( http://store.dinntrophy.com/store/gene...

Song - Regatta Day
#3: Regatta Day (Tune: "When Johnny Comes Marching Home") Regatta Day is finally here! Hurrah! Hurrah! I whittled my hull and I fashioned my sail. Hurrah! Hurrah! All the boys will cheer; all the parents shout; I blew so hard; blew my lungs clear out! And, I'll Do My Best on Regatta Day th...

Song - A Pirate's Life For Me
#2: A Pirate's Life For Me! (Tune: "My Country T'is Of Thee") I sail the seven seas- My motley crew and me; And all our fleas. We loot and plunder gold. We're scoundrels crude and bold. Our exploits mostly go untold- A pirate's life for me! When seas become too rough, True pirates show the...

Song - Row Row Row Your Boat (Raingutter Regatta Style)
At home today and the badly needed rain we are getting has detained us from working on the Raingutter Regatta Tracks that we are building for the District. So I thought I would post the songs we sing at our Pack's Raingutter Regatta every year. Here is the first: Row Your Boat – Raingutter Regatta S...

Re: Recycling parts POLL
We have reused the Tungsten cubes from a few 'experienced' cars that had been retired. We remove the Tungsten from the epoxy by first heating it with a 75 or 100 watt bulb. You have to be careful when doing this so you won't overheat the car and possibly the paint. Use some needle nose pliers...

Re: Music
Kurt, I never thought about Raingutter Regatta theme music before. Than again we usually use a pirate theme if any and I don't know of any pirate music. We do sing some Raingutter Regatta themed songs though and I would be happy to share them if you (or anyone else) would like. Send me a PM for my e...

Re: Timing Device
I've been looking into some timing system for Cubmobile as well and would be interested in your thoughts on John's solution to this. I would rather run something other than a elimination method and with timing I could use GPRM! I was thinking of going with a pressure sensitive mat - like the ones us...

Re: Inexpensive Trophies
Ranman, I should get pictures of them before they all go away to thier new owners... but I would have to find a way to post the pictures. I believe I have a site to host the pictures but just need to sit down and have it done. Too much going on right now: we just got done with hosting the District L...

Re: Inexpensive Trophies
Ranman, We are using trophies from TrophyOutlet.com for the District Pinewood Derby Race that our Pack is hosting this year. We went with Set A's (1st - 3rd) for each Rank and a 1st - 5th place set of Set Q's for overall fastest. Set Q shows only 1st - 3rd on the web site but after calling and speak...

Re: Semi Weight
I’ve always been interested in the semi-trucks since I heard about them many years ago. I think that it would be rather neat to have this as an additional race or even just to use as a static display or pwd car carrier! I don’t know about the weight placement but would guess that as far back as you ...
