Re: How come no one puts aerodynamic "fenders" on cars?
Didn't someone (Randy - Max V ?) build a minature tunnel for PW cars?

Re: Loose front wheel. How to tighten?
Try a bit of water as suggested by Pdad. An alternative is make some shims to tighten it up or fill and redrill. I have done all three with good result.

Re: How come no one puts aerodynamic "fenders" on cars?
Has anyone tested this on a track with a timer? Trust me, if the league builders have gone in that direction it has been tested and benefit proven, IMO. Check the times of the stock, pure and super stock, how many have fenders? They tend to be slightly ahead of the general curve. Typically only the...

Re: Nondestructive inspection for "dry lube only" rules
OFF TOPIC for a sec. Back on topic... :) I suspect that most Scouting units have rules that do not allow liquid lubes; I also doubt that most units conducts inspections that would cause insult to the cars being inspected. If so, inspectors are doing something in between absolutely nothing and taking...

Re: Rail Riding - "How To Guide"
If at full toe, ie bend pointing forward, car is not drifting I would begin to look elsewhere for the problem. Is lifted wheel touching? Chances are the problem is in the rear wheels. Triple check to be sure rear wheels are not toed and thus steering and or fighting each other.

Re: Nondestructive inspection for "dry lube only" rules
Well, laws and rules don't really aim for those that will follow them, but to catch those that won't. True. Locks were designed to keep honest people honest, thieves will always get in! Sad but true. I just don't get it. It's a race for kids, intended to foster and strengthen a parental bond. Are w...

Re: Nondestructive inspection for "dry lube only" rules
Detectable or not, I think people will still hold that a liquid lube is a liquid, regardless of how thin the film may be and would thus violate a dry lube only rule. In principle I agree, if it goes on wet and does not dry completely its a wet lube. Detection only complicates scenario. What ever ha...

Precisely, imo.FatSebastian wrote: Interest thereby turns from defining "liquid" and toward a practical definition of "detectable".

Re: Nondestructive inspection for "dry lube only" rules
I don't believe a clean litmus type strip would introduce anything foreign enough to foul bore. But you never know for certain, as mentioned above I doubt a trace would be found on paper. Even if the check strip itself does not leave particle or fibers in the bore, could just inserting it into the ...

Re: Nondestructive inspection for "dry lube only" rules
Has anyone routinely practiced this at their own race, or seen it practiced on their own car? Does anyone think the pro of catching cheaters before the race outweighs the con of possible contamination? Might the use of some types / brands of paper help minimize the risk of contamination? We had bee...

Re: Nondestructive inspection for "dry lube only" rules
Approaching issue from another direction. If your intention is to strictly enforce "graphite only" have your inspection crew apply to every car. Allow time to break it in, maybe an immediate run or two post inspection.

Re: Nondestructive inspection for "dry lube only" rules
How can / should one effectively inspect for the presence of liquid lubricants before a race in a non-destructive way? In my experience you can not effectively detect presence of properly applied Krytox or NyOil. As a thin film little evidence is available or apparent. Want to drive unsuspecting oi...

Re: Graphite pads via water?
We've done something similar in races that I have organized. We had entrants fill out a registration form; part of that form included an essay question like "What did you do to make your car go fast?" to help them think about their answer to the question beforehand. While I agree in princ...
