Re: French Fries anyone !

Well Charlie is back at it after taking a few days off for getting his School homework done and Cub Scouts. He was happy to finally get back to working on his car and put the salt on his French Fries. https://i.imgur.com/kUw0N05.jpeg And even the ink pen tattooing he did on his hands while at school...

But I've been wanting to do something in my memory of my Father.. He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone for over 25 years. as...

Re: Hidden-Wheel Car?

I don’t know what it is about the streamliner land speed cars. The silver car in the top pic reminds me of the 1930’s Mercedes - Benz silver arrows cars. How ever it looks more like the Ugo Fadini LSR models 1987 Red head streamliner Aka.. coke bottle. With the fenders filled in. I want to see pics ...

Re: Paint compatibility! Duplicolor + Water based Acrylic

Looking good guys.

You’ll also want to put something over the holes to cover them up
Like clear packing tape.. this will help with drag and keep you from catching air under the car on race day.

Re: Hidden-Wheel Car?

Has anyone ever built/attempted a car with the wheels almost completely encased by the fenders? I usually like to build something rather silly for the adult division of our races, so I though I might take a stab at this. VK, Andy Holzer's 1962 AMC Metropolitan build. https://www.maximum-velocity.co...

Re: French Fries anyone !

Wood is wood, so if he races in a derby requiring post-2009 wheels, then a wheel & axle swap ought to be enough... Those old-style wheels bring back some memories! The ones after 2008 require much less work... Just what I was thinking of doing if he happens to get lucky with his race....

Re: French Fries anyone !

Yeah he noted that the wheels did not have the coned hubs or the step rings to the outer hubs ..right away! Not sure .. how there going to work the pack winner Car.. for The districts race to be built with the current kits. Guess we will cross that bridge when we get there. But Charlie understands a...

Re: French Fries anyone !

Delicious! Everyone loves McD's fries! And you demonstrate your expertise by not making the front of car concave like the model. How old is that kit he's holding? Charlie thinks it’s a 1996-97 kit And it was VK that once told me about the concave shape sticking past the start pin on the one I made ...

French Fries anyone !

Hi all it sure is good to see that Derby Talk and the Derby season is picking up once more. My son would like to share his build for this year. Yeah he loves the fries at Mc Donald's and when I showed him a pic of a Mc Donald's French fry pinewood derby car he said that's what i want to build this y...

Re: Rule Interpretation

For the record, we had a kid try to build a three-wheel car where the odd wheel rode on top of the rail. I pointed out that the wheel would drop into the slot at the top of the rail (the one the starting pin swings down into) and the car would stop dead in its tracks. And thus, the car would fail o...

Re: Rule Interpretation

I'm with FS, Load2n, and Randy ! The car may not be designed so that wheel's ride upon the center guide strip of the track. . The big word is upon as FS points out. You would think that the rule on wheel spacing across the body would also rule out.. insetting the wheels to ride up on the guide strip...
