Re: Time to share some secrets (good ones) with pics
Welcome back Doc!!!!
I'm very interested in using carbon fiber rods this year. We've been building 1/4" slabs the past 3 years. This is his last year, I think it's time to build something a little more radical!!

The positive and negative cambered axles are backwards in your first diagram.

Do you push the non-DFW's axle all the way in to keep it from rotating as suggested on the other forum? I'm not sure If I've ever heard that tip on this forum. I'll post the link tonight.

Re: Removing step on new 2009 Wheels
We can't legally remove the step so we'll taper the head of the axle and burnish lots of graphite into the outer hub. And use 2.5 degrees of negative cant on the axles.

Re: Front dominant wheel touch the axle head or body?
I drill the rears at 5/32 and cant them at 2.5" and leave the axles straight. This car is 5/16" thick at the axles and then tapers down at the nose and has all of the proper cants...: http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn33/han98son/IMG_5424.jpg Could we have a few different views that sh...

Re: Front dominant wheel touch the axle head or body?
A few years ago I made a 6ft roll test bed from a piece of 3/4" melamine with 3/4" angle iron on the sides to keep it straight. It's dang heavy, 8ft would be too heavy to move. So I can get a 5ft roll before it rolls off of the end. Obviously it takes a few inches before the wheels migrate...

Re: Measuring axle bend
I had a steel gage made (1.5 degrees & 2.5 degrees) with the angles built in and a clearance cut for the axle head. I think I may have to update it with increased angles!

The turn into the rail is enough to keep the wheel off of the body? We run 2" in 4ft due to our [crummy] old wood track.
Negative 3-4 degrees on the rear??

3-4 degrees???!!! I think most have been running 1.5 degrees. What does the additional 2 degrees do for you??pwrd by tungsten wrote:You want positive camber on the DFW with a 3-4 degree bend on the axle. Hub will rub on body but it is the fastest way to go...

We got the kit in December. The race is the end of March. I'll be holding workshops in my garage every Saturday in February.
