Ppngen question

Post by Bravo11 »

I'm setting up to run a two lanes two round race and I'm trying to print off the charts and scoring grids. I have printed off charts from 8 cars to 17 cars successfully but when I get to the 18th schedule only the chart prints outs. I have tried generating both chart/scoring grid same sheet and chart and separate scoreing grid, neither works. I also get failures for 19 and 20 cars. I have pop-blockers turned off and I'm running XP professional as my OS and Internet Explorer version 7.
I have 20 Cubs registered in the Pack and won't need more than that.
Any ideas?
Thanks

1. Are you choosing "Chart and Scoring Grid" or "Chart, Separate Scoring Grid"?

2. Could you click the PPNGEN DIAGNOSTIC OUTPUTS check box on the left half of of the screen, and then repeat? After you're done, please copy/paste that output into your next reply.

Thanks.

I'm trying both Chart w/ combined Scoring grid and Chart w/ Separate Scoring grid.
I will try on another computer here.

Worked for me.
I made a PDF file for each of the charts and score sheets for you.
They are located here:
18 chart
18 score
19 chart
19 score
20 chart
20 score

Thanks for the replies and the pdf's.
If I use separate chart and scoring grids does the program open 2 browser windows?
The pdf's should get me by I'm just curious why it didn't work.
I tried the program on another PC in my office and got the same failed results.

And rolls over to "separate" if the "combined" gets too wide ... which happens at nCars = 18! Look around your desktop for another window!

Out of curiosity, did you successfully generate "separate" schedule and scoresheets for 17 or fewer cars?

BTW, 2 rounds seems small unless you are really tight for time. Each racer will have raced only 4 times and will have faced only 4 other cars.

I'm running dual monitors and nothing is showing up on either.
Also, with IE-7 each browser window has individual tabs and I don't see
anything on any tabs or any other browser windows.
It wouldn't be the first time strange things happen to this computer.

I'm a little tight on time(Monday night race during a school week) but I may make out charts for three lanes and more rounds to see how the times look.

Bravo11, I believe that I can reproduce the problem on my IE 7 here at work.

This is when asking for "Chart and Scoring Grid":

In Firefox, I get the chart and the scoring grid for up to 17 cars, but for 18 I get the chart in one tab and a scoresheet in another tab.

In IE 7, I get the chart and the scoring grid for up to 17 cars, but for 18 I get the chart only. No scoresheet.

Looks like it might be an IE 7 issue. I'll investigate when I get home.

Bravo11, is it possible that you are blocking popups for Stan's site?

It looks like the first window slips past the blocker, but any windows after that get trapped.

I believe you can change the setting for Stan's site under Tools --> Pop-up Blocker.

Not a purely IE7 issue! I'm also running IE7.0.5730.11 and going great!

Separate scoresheets are showing in a separate window.

My "Popup Blocker" is enabled and members.aol.com is allowed to produce popups.

Excuse the delay in reply, I was away from my PC friday.
Yes, I have pop-up blockers disabled, both the IE7 blocker and the Google
blocker. I will try the program from another computer today(Saturday) which is running an older XP and IE.
No emergencies though, the race is scheduled for Monday evening and all is looking good. We had a "test and tune" a few weeks ago and everyone seems ready and excited, especially the new Tigers(and the Tiger dads).
Thanks everyone for your help.
I make another post informing about the program results with the other PC and the results of the race.
