Turning Moments and Torques?

Post by Jewel »

What makes your car turn and hit the rail? When you hit the rail your wheel rubs at max diameter and therefore you have a maximum braking torque. Eee-gads there goes my speed dude!

I can think of a couple of things that turn your car.

1. Un-equal axle hub frictions? What's the best to deal with this?
2. Your CM is not on the center line of your car.
3. Your front axle is not striaght.

I bet there might be a few more things that can turn your car, how many and things and what are some ways you may try to correct it.
It's great when it goes straight.

Here's some more:

4. Rear wheel/axle(s) not aligned
5. Aerodynamic imbalance (potential problem even with normal, balanced body profile if CM off centerline)

6. Track imperfections
7. Track not level
8. Too little weight on the front wheels

Though, #8 probably wouldn't be an issue if #6 didn't exist.
