Ball Bearings

Post by Colibri »

Has anyone used ball bearings in any of their cars? I known this is outside the standard rules. What have been their experiences, what type of bearing, how they mounted them?

The inside diameter I’m measured in my BSA wheels is 3/32. I was thinking of using slot car bearings and 3/32 drill blanks for the axles.

I ordered a set of rc car ball bearings from Boca Bearings website. I turned a set of axles on a lathe at work, and also made a set of wheels out of titanium with a counterbore to press the bearing into.
We only used 10 oz. of weight. I didn't see a lot of speed improvement. We should've upped the weight to about 16 or 20 oz.

Good idea for the axles!
