Type of track

My neighbors son royal ranger race was tonight so I took my boys to go watch. There was about 100 cars running on a 3 lane track. So we had to go before I seen my neighbors boy race. But the track had me puzzled a little...It was a wood 32 foot long track with a fast timer...last 1 foot was the stopping section. But it had both the center guide and the outer guide rails. Has anyone used this type of track before
