Drilling Disaster
My #44 drill bit is now prominently painted red at the base.
Apparently I own another slightly larger black bit! I did not enjoy finding this out after I drilled out the axle slots on a couple of finished cars!
Lesson learned the hard way!

IMHO, "best practice" is to drill a test hole in scrap stock and shove your axle into it! If the axle fits, you're in! If not, you get a free "do over."
