Drill Press vs. Dremel for axle polishing?

We are allowed to use the China axles and I no longer do any sanding. I polish them with Brasso, clean them with water, dry them, put them in 91% Isopropyl Alcohol for 15 minutes, dry them and I'm finished. I used to sand them with 3M, 3000 grit, Trizact performance paper, Part # 03064, available from Auto Zone. I wondered if I was doing more harm than good so I stopped all sanding. I like to spend lots of time on wheel bore prep.

Do you still file off the small amount of flashing under the head of the nail?

Looking through a microscope it looks a bit rough but if it doesn't break loose from the Brasso I don't bother with it. Maybe I should.
