Graphite on wheel tread

I read very recently where someone covers the wheel tread with graphite. If you are set up to rail ride, is this wise? Do you want the dfw to have lesser ability to stay on the rail? Do you want any of your wheels to have a slippery tread? Has anyone ever tested this?

The only time I'd want a slippery tread is if I were building a 4-wheel-touching rail rider, and I wanted minimize the traction of the 4th wheel as much as possible.

It might offer a slight improvement
In heat times! Say 4 thousandths of second on smooth aluminum tracks.
Might even offer more of a benefit on rougher tracks!
