Here's an Awana club that built a plexiglass and aluminum track. It looks pretty cool.

Re: Plexiglass Track
Very, very cool... Wow!
We used a similar red-yellow-green-blue color motif when we painted our lanes, but the clear Plexiglass looks a lot nicer than the black we used to paint the wood surface of our track.
It looks like the action of this design would be similar to that of an aluminum track. It avoids the irregularities inherent to wood tracks, and would run quite fast.

Re: Plexiglass Track
I know this is probably old news...
Are there any pictures of the transition for this track?
Details of construction? Details of materials like the lane guides?
Looks interesting.
Thanks.

Re: Plexiglass Track
From their finish line photo it looks like they have small aluminum plates to connect the sections. The lane guides look like plexiglas, with a colored backing. Of course you could email them to find out about the construction or better yet, get them over to this forum to reveal all.SteveJahr wrote:I know this is probably old news...

Re: Plexiglass Track
They're running their area-wide Grand Prix on Saturday, March 27th, in Marietta, GA. I'm planning on driving down from here in Greenville, SC, along with 3 or 4 other Awana Leaders from our church, to see this track and how they run their event. I'll take plenty of notes and (with their permission) digital pics.
I'm really hoping to see how they wired their starting and finishing gates, and connected them to the computer.
