paintedosi starting gate lever

We recently purchased a 2 lane 40 foot aluminum paintedosi track and the precision drilling and alignment is excellent...
My question is about the starting gate lever....
The photo's and instructions for the track show and describe a lever that is pulled down to drop the gate ...
The gate we received is a lever that you push in towards the track that holds the gate up and when pushed inward towards the track it releases the gate pins ...


Is the one we received a new version or is it the older version ???

Has anyone used the 2 different versions if so which do you prefer???
