Finish Lines

Post by davem »

Just received our new Piantodosi Freedom 4 Lane Aluminum track!

What does everyone do to mark the finish line for aluminum tracks?
Solid Line?
Checkered finish line?
Decals?

How about decals for the lane numbers / colors?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Dave,

I'm not a big fan of using the colored tape for color coding the lanes. Yes, it looks good the first year, but after storage, even if stored well, and cleaning the track, after year two or three, it starts to look ratty. Imagine trying to remove all of that tape, and clean off the adhesive, to replace it! (Isn't the point of the aluminum track less maintenance?!) Since we're using the K3 timer, that has the tower ove the sensors, we didn't bother with any other mark for the finish line. We did, however, add lane numbers. What I used are the reflective type numbers like you would use on a mailbox, (you know black rectangle with a gold reflective numeral). One at the top above the start gate, and one at the end AFTER the finish line, (the nice part is that they fit inside the rails so no worry about the car running over them) The lane numbers are a big help in staging.
