Questions on GPRM reports

Post by DerbyAddict » Fri Mar 10, 2006 9:25 pm

I could use some help on understanding the reports that come out of GPRM.

In my lane statistics I have
Ln Avg Min Max Std Dev
1 1.92 1 3 0.84
2 1.85 1 3 0.75
3 1.92 1 3 0.79

and the table below

Ln 1st 2nd 3rd
1 56 42 44
2 54 62 32
3 52 54 40
(The reason for the uneven lanes counts is boys that left and/or DNF)
In the first table, I understand the Avg is the Avg finish in that lane. I understand in the second table that those are the place finishes for each lane. I do not understand the Std Dev in the first table or if the second table show good lane eveness or bad.

In the Overall race statistics, we show an average time of 43 seconds with a minimum of 19 seconds, a high of 10:07 and a Std Dev of 46 seconds. Again, good?, bad?, decent?, average?

In the Pack Statistics report, I see a listing like this for the first 2 placing cars:
Heats Avg Min Max Std Dev
18 3.2606 3.2137 3.3546 0.0405
18 3.2724 3.2377 3.2984 0.0154

I know this will tell me some useful stuff but I do not know what to do with it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. If this is listed somewhere, point me in that direction (though nothing really technical, I can rip a computer down to it solder points and rebuild it and troubleshoot networks til dawn but some of Stan's discussions lose me on, oh, the third line  )
