Post by VENARI »

It seems that there is alot of the time accumulation type software out there. But for those who still enjoy the elim. method---what recommondations are there for multi-elim. methods? Thanks all.

If the boys are racing their own cars, the fastest (heats per hour) scheme involves NO Computers and NO (or minimal) centralized record keeping. (If the racers are not racing their own cars, then the organization just doesn't "get it" ... IMO)

The reason is that if you do centralized direction and record keeping, then you must constantly keep trying to make the real world (i.e. dozens of youngsters) match the the computer's directions. That slows the process, partly because of the coordination and partly because of the exceptions ... "Where's Johnny?"! This is not too hard if you have ten or twenty of them to corral, but much more difficult when the numbers are 25 to 100! And, with more racers, time is more critical, both in total time for the event AND having each racer run frequently enough to keep them involved.

The key is to manage the racers "in bunches." See http://members.aol.com/standcmr/nelim.html

Generally there is 30+ racers. Plus we let the kids race the cars (a lot more fun for them). Just was wondering if there was some super software out there for multiple elim. methods to make tracking the races a bit easier. Thanks.

I think that if you "dry run" no-chart multi elim a few times you will find that it runs faster without trying to keep a computer "in sync". Individual record cards worn by each racer can easily be updated right near the finish line, then sent to wait with their respective "bunch" for the next round. Each racer has an automatic keepsake from the racing, his personal racing record.
