GPRM on Linux?

Post by Vitamin K »

So, it looks like the latest version of GPRM is built on PyGTK?

Would it be possible to create a build that runs on Linux? Even an unsupported version?

Would be nice to be able to view/edit race files without needing to spark up my VM.

Not sure if you can use Wine to run GPRM on Linux. Never tried it. Though, when trying to run GPRM on Mac using Wine, the serial port communications would not work.

As for adding support for Linux, I don't think that there are enough people running Linux to justify the effort. I get more people asking if GPRM will run on Chrome.

Adding support for other OS's is a monumental effort. It certainly adds to the work to just push out an update (make the change, package for Windows on a Windows machine, copy files over to a Mac, package for macOS, upload files).

Ah well, bummer that. Thought I'd ask.

I find Wine to be so fiddly, it's usually easier just to pop open a VM. :)
