Emptying the Gutters After the Race
Emptying the Gutters After the Race
I am a race rookie. I have only run two Raingutter Regattas. My most difficult thing is figuring out HOW to empty the water out of the lanes after the race. Any suggestions?

Last weekend, at a church picnic, someone had a large bucket full of cloth-covered sponge balls. They soak up water, and then act like water balloons, except you don't leave scraps of broken balloons all over the park.
Or you could just use regular household sponges.

You can try using a long tube to siphon the water directly outside or a shorter tube to siphon off water to buckets. On the short side, a siphon tube like this should work fine and is inexpensive, http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/d ... mber=93290

If you are going to use a sponge I would suggest Shammy-WOW --- they really do work as well as advertised.

Add 14 packages of KoolAid and 2 lb of sugar to the water and then hand all the kids straws.

But more seriously something like this would work great and just pump it into the sink.

We built ours out of 6" PVC pipe. To drain them, we drilled holes in the ends and put hose fittings on. Works awesome.

Hard to beat a Wet/Dry Shop-Vac.
