Photographing Races

Post by Sparky »

Any tips or suggestions on how best to shoot the actual race? I've been shooting using a Canon 10D at ISO400 at a high shutter speed about 1/200 sec. I use a TTL shoe mount flash. What shooting speeds, apertures, lenses, etc. have you used that works well?

I'd be careful using a flash, the electronic finish lines are said to be immune to flash photography but I wouldn't chance it to be safe. Video cameras seem to have enough light to work with perhaps you'd be ok without the flash?

No problem there. We use line judges. Seems low tech, but the dads seem to like doing it.
