2012 pack champion and most original design

Post by Aron »

My oldest boys Police car complete with blue/red flashing led lights on top. Took the most original design trophy and took 2nd in weebelo 2.

Image

My younger boy wanted an all out speed car so with the knowledge we have gained on here we put together a 3 wheel rail rider and took the pack championship for the 2nd year in a row :bigups: A special thanks to Sporty who has been a big help  and answered any questions we have had through e-mail. Here is his car

Doing a little bore prep

On the COM scale. This was our first attempt at a car this thin so we were a bit nervous about the results.....all turned out well

The boys were all smiles :bigups: There was also a leaders race for pack leaders and parents which had a fairly good turnout (8 cars) I was able to take home 1st place despite a small case of the shakes in the flat on several runs.

Just realized it was hard to see the design on the green car. He went with a Go Green scouting design

I have been working on it a little off and on here lately when I get time on the weekends to do so.

Hopefuly I can get some photos of it up soon guys.

So far it has been a really fun build trying to build it and keep the Hot Rod looks going. As Chuck Miller's Fire Truck.. with the Police Paddy Wagon Twist to it.
I don't think it will be the fastest truck but at least it will be different.

Thanks to your tips on the lights i've found some cool looking lights for it.

I figered if the kids have to use the axel notches for the cars..
Well I should two.. it's not stock Wheel base BSA.
It's a mod rod useing the top half of the BSA kit that
I cut the axel notches into.

All though I keeped it at the same axel locations as the ext..wb..cars.
Wish me luck.

Whoda.......here is a pic of what the lights looked like that we took out of a couple of snowmen. As you can see one of the lights was left in tact and the other had to be taken apart and we soldered on a extra peice of wire so we could get the 2nd LED into place. It was to cramped for space to leave them both in the original form.

Image

BTW- As a quick tip.....if you do have to solder near the Led's be very careful. We ruined the first Led we attempted due to getting the wire too hot to close to the Led and it burnt it out.

lights are ALWAYS a hit ;-)

These cars look great and congratulations on the wins!

With the Paddy Wagon - isn't the front of that vehicle incorrect with that "U" shape?

I agree! We've done several cars with lighting, but always the kind that you put on a bicycle inner tube. They go off with the vibration. I’ve used them as a top siren type light, for Sparky’s tail (he’s a firefly for you nonAWANA folks) and this year we buried one under some twigs for a camp fire.
