Pack Derby (Warning: lots of pictures)

Post by resullivan »

Just got home from our pack derby. There were around 50 cars. The track was very uneven this year. In the very first run all 3 cars did a wheely. There were several heats that had to be rerun because a car came off the track. All in all it was a fun day. Here are all the pictures because I am sure you would rather see them then read my take on the day:

And the Winner is:

My son's car came in first place with an average time for 3 runs of 3.2665. Second place had an average time of 3.316. I am not sure how long the track is. Our car ran a 2.95 on a 42' fast track, so either this track was longer or it being so bumpy made it slower.

This picture has 3 out of the top 4. The green and blue cars were made by our den leader. The green came in second and blue came in 4th. Both cars looked very nice.

I think with the track being so bumpy our car had a big advantage being a RR. Every car that I watched go down the track was bouncing back and forth like crazy. Our car went down without the bouncing. It made it very obvious how much rail riding helps.

Is the track a traditional style where the cars straddle the lane guides or are the lane guides outside of the wheelbase of the car? It's a little hard to tell from the pics....just curious.

Is that a fast track or a magic track?

Is that a fast track or a magic track? Looks like a great race. Where there more then one class or did they all run against each other?
Thanks
Jeff

You said it was kind of rough is that do to the track or the way it is set up? The reason I ask is I am looking at getting their practice track that comes with a timing system one day.
Thanks

Not sure. The track was good last year. It is only 4 years old. I just do not think it has been taken care of.
