Mowin' Down the Competition

Post by derbyspeed »

Here is a fun build that I put together for my former employer so they could race in the business race at the Scout Derby. It ended up taking 2nd place in the races, they didn't have best of show :(

Very nice! I especially like the steering wheel.

Thanks! Yes I am kind of partial the steering wheel, I didn't have anything to put on it so I thought I would try and cut the tread off of and old wheel with the band saw and it worked fairly well, just put a little glue on the end of an axle and installed.

The hood is made out of balsa wood, was much faster with that wind break off of it, but didn't look as cool

The fenders were very hard to make, or at least for me. I kept trying to shape them better and then just went with what I had.

Inkjet decals for the headlights and logo.

I think the fenders look fine. You should have put a bottle of nitrous under the hood. ;)

Thanks, the mower deck is actually all the way under the tractor, I was afraid it would hit the track at the curve but it didn't. Should've turned the deck on so it would blow the 1st place car off the track - LOL!

A lot of fun to see it go down the track.

I love the hood with an engine underneath. Nice.
