Mid America
Mid America
here is some pictures of our mid america cars for this weekends race.
I did this for fun. and tried out something different on the bore prep and graphite process. Also very quick tune on the kitchen floor.
I not look for them to be fast, but was fun to do.
Sorry no wheels, guys !
I used novus 2 and q-tip for the bore prep and then legends wax with graphite mixed in the wax.
When I tried a few years ago novus 2, I could never get it to run as fast as my shared bore prep process. So we will see.
When I tried wax a few years ago with graphite running cars, it was hit or miss. more often miss. and it was not consistent enough to stick with using.
But since it was for fun. I thought why not try this process out. I hear some use it and swear by it. So it will be real interesting to see if it works well enough to keep me in the middle of the pack or at the bottom. With the alignment not tuned very well. I would be shocked to see a top 6 finish.

I like the paint jobs.
Seems to me like part race car and part surfboard.
Good Luck!

Re: Mid America
COOL looking cars. Are they rail riders? Will they be racing against each other? Let us know how you do. Good Luck.
Re: Mid America
thanks,
They have monokote covering on them,. no paint. yes rail rider.
As said they will not do well, but for fun. but ill let you know.
you can watch it live over the net saturday.
one is my sons, webelo 2, one is youth, and one is adult.
Many will be running 1.8 grams or lower. I am only running 2.5 grams, huge disadvantage right there for us. and no track tuning.
I'm just happy to have them run.

Nice looking cars Sporty! I will be there and I will give each and every one of them a pep talk before they head down the hill! First or middle of the pack who cares, you are a great builder and a great help to many, many people in the PWD community and that's what really counts.

Re: Mid America
CONGRATULATIONS, Sporty and Sons.
You reached the Finals, 3 for 3. You can't do any better than that. Those races were very close considering you were running 2.5 gr. wheels. That was REALLY exciting !!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS !!!!

Re: Mid America
Thanks.
My youngest, took 6th place in webelo 2.
My oldest son in youth, took 5th place.
and In adult, I took 4th place.
Congrats to the winners !
Some fast cars.
I am shocked to even make it to the finals and place in the finals, with the heavier wheels, and no track tuning, just the kitchen floor !

Re: Mid America
Congrats Sporty, your cars ran well. There were 105 scouts racing in the scout division! There were maybe another 30 racers in the kids division and 30 in the adult. The pro division had 42 cars and the pro division alone took 4 hours to complete.
It was a great event with some fast racing.
