Congratulations!! Looks like one happy boy!

Our rules aren't that lenient. If our car jumps track once, we get a rerun, it jumps twice, for any reason, it's a DQ from the race.

Maybe you're thinking that they are 1/4 inch in size?

That would be where the disconnect was, lol.

Your car looks like it has Positive Camber on the DFW. Did any other cars have the same problem?

I am fairly confident that we were the only car running camber. Yes, the DFW did have positive camber, so by my thinking, the DFW hit a low section of the track rail, near where the joints were likely misaligned.

A couple of other cars jumped their lanes once. It was only lane three, where we were rail running that we had the 3 jumps.

I'm not sure I like that rule, as in this case, it would have punished anyone running positive camber on their cars. To me, it would signify a track issue, not a car issue, as the car had successfully completed two runs in lanes 1 and 2. Lane 3 introduced the problem.

As it turns out, the race administrators did locate the problem, and correct it so the boys' car could complete his run in lane 3, but the car had been dinged up a good bit by then.

I agree, and don;t like the rule either.

Too funny! Yes, I suspect he'll be coming back around next year as well.

I'm seriously considering conducting a Pinewood Derby 'build school' for the Pack next year, just to show them how to make faster cars. I think that would 'lift all boats', versus just handing the baton to another kid to be the unbeatable champ for the next few years.

I am doing a fair amount of research into Arduinos for the Mid-America. Would like to make another Green Lantern type car, but this time, I'd like to animate the ring with LEDs.
