You have inspired me. I may have to build an 18 wheeler.

I used to operate and haul around tractors. Caterpillar's biggest crawler loader is,or at least was, a Cat 977. We had two of them. These along with International DT 25, International 3414's, a road grader, dump trucks, 30 foot tilt bed trailer moved a lot of material in California's Central Valley.

I will likely go a different direction. I know I won't be able to compete with all your detail work. We'll see what I can get done. Districts in three weeks (if they ever lock down the date and rules). Then it will be all out build for 2019 MA.

Say That's grate Eagle!
Id like to see the Big Rig racing grow for them .. so the more racers there are the more fun it gets !
The MA race is a lot of fun ... and that caterpillar crawler loader sound like a very fun build to me!

I was thinking of doing the
Cat -B series articulated dump truck for the class B big rig with 6 wheels on the back.. got to have 8 wheels total for running in that class.

And you don't have to look good to be fast.. you just have to have fun with what you build to race ..you know!
and I'm sure you'll do just fine in looks as well!

As for me if i'm going to lose.. well i'm going to look good doing it! ;)

The BSA big rig kits are very hard to find now or days.
So if your building 18 wheeler's from scratch lumbers with out a kit .. for the longer axles for the 18 wheeler's check out maximum velocity for the 18 wheeler axles.
Best of Luck Eagle!

A word of caution from someone (Me) who was taught a lesson by The Best track. Look at Whoda's truck. Make sure the wheels, both Front and Rear, are very close to the ends of the truck, If you have much sticking out, the truck will hit the track as it goes through the curve, both "A" Class and "B" class.

Thank's Speedster.. that's some good to know info on getting threw the curve of a best track.

While were talking big rigs on this topic..
For those of you that might be looking over the topic or even getting into racing the 18 wheeler's.. or the Class b rigs for this year's Mid America Big Rig Race.
But are unfamiliar with the big rig 18 wheeler kits that are in very short supply and hard to get .. or even how to go about making one from scratch.
I hope this big rig kit topic will help about the 18 wheeler's
http://www.derbytalk.com/viewtopic.php?t=8270
And please check out some of the Big Rig Topics here on Derby Talk for more ideas and photos of 18 wheeler's .
And Best of luck with your builds!
