2013 Pack Champion

Post by DerbyDash »

After much time here trying to understand all the items in making a fast car and working with my son to put the right "physics" into our car, my son won his den / pack championship for the second year in a row. Didn't lose a race until we got to the finals and then finished 2nd, 2nd, 1st and 1st to win it all.

(My daughter, using a similar design to her brother, won the Outlaw races again this year too!)

Thank you again to all of you for sharing your knowledge with us. We look forward to attempting to build some fast cars again next year. :thanks:

You should come race in the Mid America Derby... with other scouts from Across the United States.

Thank you!

Any of the DT detectectives want to provide input on our competition?? Looks like they have a certain place for their COM but not sure what they did to get the wheels so shiny...how about the number by the axles? And does that look like a RR by the front axle?

After the race, the father of this boy asked me if I was an engineer...had to tell him I am a finance guy. Told him my son did the work!

(Name covered to protect the competition.)

thats just graphite or hodges, winderby wheels. with the slick silver on them. yes, rail rider, narrowed 1/16th. stock axle slots and lead poured for the weight. looks like a balance point of 7/8ths rail riding on the left side ? I asume this is pic of the bottom of the car ?

Can't think of anything for the numbers. Did the owner put the writing on the car or an inspector? Was this car Fast?

The owner put all the writing on the car.

They finished 2nd or 3rd in the pack. During the den races, we never lost to it until one time in the finals and then only by about 0.003 seconds.

So they were fast enough to finish in the top 3 for the pack.

Those could be 'spin times' for the individual wheels? They put the fastest one as the DFW, two similar ones on the rear and the best one on the raised wheel?
