Why Colored Wheels.
Is it just me.. or has anyone else noticed this as well..
Why in the pro or league racing are we seeing more and more colored wheels
being used on most all the cars.
Mainly the Yellow or Orange & Blue wheels
and less of the black colored wheels on the cars?
Are the colored wheel moldes producing better wheels?
or it easyer to see whats going on down inside the colored wheels wheel bores.
Thoughts..

What type of automobile can be spelled the same forwards & backwards?

I bought a couple of sets. Wheel runout was average compared to kit/tube wheels. Maybe people are just tired of black?

I'm no league or pro racer, and we tend to want to use colored wheels because we're bored with black wheels. In fact, I wish they'd make more colors.

Same for us. Just don't want to look like every other car. No other reason for using color wheels.Scrollsawer wrote:I'm no league or pro racer, and we tend to want to use colored wheels because we're bored with black wheels. In fact, I wish they'd make more colors.

Re: Why Colored Wheels.
In my case, we purchased yellow wheels last season for a cub scout car and I felt the yellow color made their internal bores easier to visually inspect as compared to black. Dirt, grime, etc, on the outside tread was also easy to see and therefore clean. So now I prefer yellow on my league cars.

I'm with lightinboy. It's easier to see the bores inside yellow and orange wheels. Especially if youre doing graphite prep and burnishing.

Perhaps. I mentioned this a few years ago.
The colored wheels are not as hard, softer plastic then the black ones.
They simply could just be using them, because easier to see the polish work, or due to being slightly softer are easier to get a better polish on them.
Maybe they also run a little lighter.
Its been a few years, since I dove into all the details of them.
Either way, I think it's always better to go with what you like and what works best for you and improve from there.
