I prefer to be safe and say max Length total 18inches.
I'd do the full 19". You can fit a 7" car on the track with a bit of room to spare. When you add the extension, you add an extra 12", so it would be safe to have a 19" truck on there.

Questions?
Can I build a "Sporty Eco-semi" even though I could never get a diesel engine in it?
Do I have to show Exhaust stacks?
Can I install the air cleaner under the hood?
Do I have to show fuel tanks?
Must I have outside mirrors?
Do all 18 wheels have to be on the ground all the time?
Can I use tag axles on the tractor and trailer to keep wheels off the ground? ( I'll be Deadheading)
Can I run a Split axle trailer?
Is a Box trailer required or can I build a Flatbed?
Can I build the tractor and trailer as a solid unit so there would be only 6 wheels on the ground going through the curve? I think it would make it easier to build a rail rider.
I prefer Graphite only.
Are wheels the same as the car kit wheels? If not, specify the stock BSA car kit wheels. Anyone could then buy Vendor wheels.
Looking forward to seeing the Final Rules.

I think it would be interesting to see what people do. I have no idea which way is faster either.

5 wheels must atleast touch the track. 18 wheels have to be on it. Naturally duels are required on the trailer and rear of cab.
I prefer to be safe and say max Length total 18inches.
After seeing some of the questions Speedster had.. Sporty.
I know the rules say the tractor is to be 8 inches.

:pullhair:
So there go's my idea of wanting to skip building a trailer all together.
It would of been neat to have built..
A vintage Eisehauer freighter twin-engine five axle truck with 2 spares to the max length of 18 Inches.

What type of automobile can be spelled the same forwards & backwards?

I have submitted the first draft of rules to Greg. I am waiting feed back.

I had a voice message from betacraft.

He has not gotten out to the warehouse yet. To see how many parts he has or partial kits. So I am still waiting to hear back again on that.

He is hoping to have 15 to 25 kits, without the wood to make the trailer. and see if he has extra axles also.

Now, I found local hardware store had this. (axles). wall hanger kit.

for about $1.50.

notice the part number ! V2530 (n260-042) Important !

because the V2530 (n260-059) will not work without allot of removing of metal !

The N260-042 kit, the crimp at the end of the axle, pointy spot. needs to be sanded down some to fit and then your natural head work area.

It has a brass type coating, but sands off as you polish.

Silver is stock bsa duel wheel axle. compared to out of the box nail/ from above mentioned picture hanger kit.

I did a quick light sand / polish on it to show you that the coloring comes mostly off.

Stock axle head on the left, and nail head on the right, there is some difference, and this is the sanded one, it still has a bit of gold tint to it yet. I didn't spend a lot of time yet prepping these.

A quick ruff, first attempt and groove axle for the first inner wheel.

again.

stock axle is .086, the hanger kit nail/axle is .093. But the as I mentioned the end of the nail/axle from the wall hanger kit is thicker there and needs to be sanded down some.

It seems to me at .094-.096, depending on how the machine cut the end of the nail/axle off.

Back in 2010 when I was looking for axles to use when making Big Rigs, I found the PWD axles were called escutcheon pins. I found these were mostly used in picture hanging. I bought many picture hangers to find ones I could use for axles for the trucks.

In this search I found Menards carried a kit of these escutcheon pins, in a picture hanging kit. The kit below retails for between $5 and $6 and has 30 (approximately .20 each) of the axles you could use for the trucks (they are actually shorter, see below).

The brass colored coating is easily removed with polishing, the head is somewhat different (smaller), but the shaft is a larger diameter. This is what I sent to Sporty in the email explaining the escutcheon pins used for Big Rig axles.

Thanks for sharing. Great pictures. They look professional quality.

I was not able to find this at my menards. They carry some generic brand.
